Which is why when I get rid of my LT8, I'll never go back to Microtech.

I bought a LT10s 3 years ago because their web site stated that it had the ability to save maps into PC or Disk. After I got the unit and found out otherwise I was lucky enough to unload it for the same price I paid for it. Its sad that after all of these YEARS they still have not delivered on their promises! I have switched to megasquirt also and I'm happy with that decision. I have dealt with Microtech's, Wolf3d's, PowerFC's, Megasqiurt's and AEM's and after installing and tuning all of them I would never buy another microtech or recommend it to anyone. They have zero customer support and at this point what was a failure to deliver on promises has turned into a blatant LIE about its features. If the company will not support it's customers then its customers should not support this company. Every one who owns one should buy some thing else when its time to upgrade, I did.

take your money elsewhere,,, broken promises and false advertising,,, worse service
this ECU is still at below the 1995 level of other makers

PS
microtech global forum is broke..... just like so many x4 boxes,, and so many promises

Once my car is back on the road, I will make one of my summer projects the finishing of my utility to save/load LT8s matrix tables. I don't know if I can easily do the rest of the map. At least that gives us some hope...

My other summer project is the resto-mod of my '76 Cosmo...and it's getting a Megasquirt!

I'm strongly considering the Platinum 2000 for my next build.

^ +1, or even the 1000. Light years ahead of this shitty product. Microtech's only saving grace is that they have fairly good trigger accuracy.

Start in there and look for someone with a similar setup to yours (injector combo, turbo, porting)

Microtech is simple and all, but yeah...so many options not included with the ecu and not really anything nice. Hell I gotta ship out my LT8s just to get a 3 bar map sensor...I may just switch ecus at that time.

i have an lt10s with all teh bells and whistles (thanks previous owner)

Biggest thing i've noticed going from stock rc7 stock ecu to stock rx7 microtech is horrible gas mileage but nearly double the power.

It was explained that due to their resolution and how staging works theres no way to save fuel (with stock turb anyway) since its boost so early my setup just dumps fuel :P

staging is their biggest weakness followed closely by poor interpolation followed by large incremental changes.

+1.
I once tried to tune for economy in cruise areas, what a waste of time - too rich, then too lean, and inconsistant. Also tuned another on a piston, have since told the owner I will never tune his car again unless he fits (or get me to fit) another ECU. I dont even care if it only has 16x16, that is enough as long as I can shift the points about, but the 2D ignition maps do my head in no end.

People rate them due to drag racing results, but pouring in methanol at wide open throttle is hardly difficult. Tuning a drag car is a lot easier than tuning a street car usually.
Had a guy come into the workshop the other day wanting to remove the M800 from his street car (piggy-backed) so he could sell it and get a Microtech for his Rotor Drag car. I didn't really inquire further, because I probably would have smacked him for being so stupid if I had talked to him any longer. And yes I tried to give him a quick lesson, much to my frustration.

Am quite glad I stumbled on this thread, I thought I was the only one who didn't have rocks in his head.

I didn't have much issue tuning my car for economy in the cruise areas of the map. But my vacuum situation (bridgeport) is different then the majority of other (street ported) cars. That said, the only reason the Microtech is still on my car and not replaced with something superior (Megasquirt) is because it is so reliable and it would be a pain to rewire the car.

My next build, which is my '76 Cosmo, is getting a Megasquirt and I will never look at Microtech again.

The answer is NONONONONO and NO , I dont think they will ever be one to hinest , they are blown out the water compared to the others. Thats why I got rid of my LTX12S and got a Haltech Platinum 1000. This updates everyone has been waiting for as long as I can remember 5+ years, goodluck w/updates.

16x16 is small by today's standards but I don't get the fixation on 32x32 maps. That would be cool to have I guess. But do you realize what a 32x32 map looks like?

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/l...Z06_timing.png

That's the stock high octane timing map from a C6 Z06. The latest gen IV GM small block powertrain controllers are very high quality. 32x32 may be asking too much. Just having something bigger than the current maps + the ability to save would be good.

No, but it's not necesary with the MS because it has a far smoother interpolation algorithm. The Microtech interpolates of course, but it seems to do so in steps, so you don't see smooth transitions in injector times as the unit moves between bins.

Plus, the Megasquirt supports real timing tables, closed loop, idle control, loads of configurable I/O, autotune, saving to disk, custom firmwares and is always being developed and upgraded.

The Microtech has a very reliable VR conditioner, and that's the only thing it has going for it.
