When Will High-Res (32x32) Maps Be Available? Ability To Save To Disk?

I know we have a few Microtech employees around this forum, so it seems as an appropriate place to ask as any...

When will we see the high-res code released for the LT8s? And when will we have the ability to save maps to disk?

Both of these have been promised for a very long time, but there doesn't seem to be any progress. No screenshots, no interm announcements, etc. Especially frustrating is the inability to save maps to disk, something that is available with every other common ECU on the market.

Since save to disk is mainly a software function, why not update the software and make a lot of people happy?

Dom is working very hard to get it all finished, the lt16 is in testing phases now and will not be far from being finished,
once it is finished all will be released at once

Any estimates on when this will happen? The thread on the Microtech forum has been running for a long time without any real news. :)

ill see what i can find out for you

Aaron Cake 07-09-07 09:02 AM

Sweet, thanks. :)

(As an aside, I have already written software that allows saving the fuel table to disk...the Microtech protocal is really simple. But I want to know if it's worth me spending more time on the thing to allow it to also load a map from disk to the unit, as well as handle ignition and a few other functions...)

VERY GOOD AARON! i would love to know about the saving maps to disk considering u can only run 1 map!

rx72c 07-17-07 08:07 PM

i put my bet on around 12 months before we get it.

It's a pretty basic application at the moment that simply allows you to save the fuel matrix to disk. I'll flush it out when I have some time and release it here. No idea when this will take place as I have a lot of projects, but should be by the end of the summer.

Fine. :)
Now - ½ year later - there are some (good) news?

No good news.

I disagree with the way microtech are doing things.
They should put the lt16 on hold and do what they have been promising people for years.
Finish the software update, get it in action then go back to lt16.

silentblu 01-27-08 10:25 PM

any updates....???

10sec rx7 01-28-08 08:21 PM

LT16 is in final stages from what i was told last week, im hoping to have one for our race car in the next month or so,

Lt16?
probably going to cost $2500+?
defeats the whole purpose of a microtech.

When you buy a haltech...

Just kidding ;)

LT16 will be a race system with 16 channel data logger etc, its not designed for the budget racer, it will have all the features you can dream of and more

rx72c 01-29-08 06:34 PM

fair enough.

always seen microtech as the computer for the budget racer.

might as well buy a haltech or a motec.
Oh well.
Lets hope the 32X32 is here soon.

Lately I've not been recommending Microtech for this reason.

I understand that it's a small company with limited resources, but the new code and save to disk has been promised for years. Ever since I bought my LT8s, I have heard "It's just around the corner" or "it's coming soon". I purchased my unit in 2003.

Aaron Cake 04-22-08 09:10 AM

4 months later. Any word from the Microtech people when these features will be ready?

Looking to hear on the status of high res, save to disk, closed loop and 3D timing tables on the LT8 series.

Soon I'm going to start considering swapping this backwards ECU with something more up to date like a Megasquirt. :) Currently the Microtech is the only mainstream ECU so far behind the curve. While it's a great ECU and almost always problem free (never have I had any trigger issues or had one fail to start first try) it is antiquated at this point regarding features that all other ECUs provide.

rx72c 04-22-08 02:34 PM

Ill say it again.
Dont even bother.
Get a haltech or something. microtech are just doing everything wrong.

fastcarfreak 04-23-08 10:25 AM

thats the one thing i absolutely hate about microtech.... I CANT SAVE MY MAP!!! I'm always afraid to play around with the tuning, because I'm afraid i will screw it up and have to pay hundreds of dollars for new tuning....

R.P.M. 04-23-08 10:44 AM

Buy a Wolf V500 for the same price, guys have been using the V500 in their tow vehicles, then once they get to the track they unplug the V500 from their truck, put it in their race car, load the race car map then go racing all day. At the end of the day put the V500 in their truck, load the trucks map and drive home with no problems.

rx72c 04-23-08 05:35 PM

ahhhh wolf no.

joeylyrech 04-23-08 06:00 PM

there is 2 drag cars down in PR running LT16,Yerismar Racing and La Metrica, they both run semmi p-ports cosmos 13b,i been told that they still in beta testing and that they will relase them soon.

Aaron Cake 04-24-08 09:00 AM

I'd rather run a carburetor then a Wolf. :) I'm sure the new version is better then the old, but no thanks...

Instead of Microtech building a new ECU (LT16) they should have concentrated on making the software for the older units that we were all promised when we purchased them. We've been screaming for it ever since. The official Microtech forum is full of these topics, many of which have been around for years.

I realise it's a small company and development costs money but in the interest of not pissing off customers would it not make sense to bring in another programmer to help? If the base code already exists in the LT16 then porting the relevant sections to the older ECUs will not be hard.

As for saving to disk, this summer I hope to have time to play with my little map saving utility. Pulling the map down from the unit is easy, getting it back up is much harder.
