What do these options mean?
As the title says just wondering what these options are for on my Microtech ECU.
IDLmap
Opt Dwell
IDLmap = 1320.
Opt Dwell = 30
but I dont know what it means!

yea lol thats bloody useful haha.. i think i read that too lol
this ecu has passed thru god knows how many hands and settings change likewise lol :P
Im not sure what IDLmap is, i was thinking something to do with IDLE at first... the way it read i thought maybe its how you set the idle speed, but idle speed is set with the TB.. MAP = manifold absolute pressure... but 1320 isnt a value that really fits in there then :| stumped heh
i have done a google search and found nothing. this is on a digi 1 pro, but im pretty sure later ecu's are similar.
edit: also wondering what pump1 dwell means heh
edit2:just found some more info:
Dwell
The amount of time distributor points remain closed between openings.
so something to do with timing..
still unsure about IDLmap - its just weird

i take it your ecu is a early MT8 or a DIGI??
idlmap is for what RPM below it uses the idle map, great for ported motors.
dwell is the charge time for the coils

ahh excellent! thanks, yes its a digi.
ignitions not hooked up so dwell is irrelevant then. IDLmap makes sense - i will look into what I can do with it Cheers!!

So with idlmap, if I am ever below that RPM, it will run off the IDLE map settings in the ecu right, not the loadmap?!
See problem I am having is I go to take off from a stop, bring clutch out and suddenly revs drop when I bring the clutch out (sometimes stalls)... I'm guessing its switching to the idle map just as i lift clutch and revs drop below 1340 (where its set)... something like that
just want to confirm exactly how idlmap works, when it is active etc.
cheers

hmm my 00"hg values are the same -- 00 hg is at WOT though.. right?
when my car is idling, vacuum is reading between 16-19"Hg - usually at steady 17" - and the way the digi works i believe is it grabs the closest number to that and uses its value. so it would be one of the following:
"hg ---- LOAD ---- IDLE
15 ---- 1.88 ---- 1.75
20 ---- 1.68 ---- 1.62
Complete Map:
"Hg ---- LOAD ---- IDLE
0 ---- 3.5 ---- 3.5
5 ---- 2.82 ---- 2.68
10 ---- 2.25 ---- 2.06
15 ---- 1.88 ---- 1.75
20 ---- 1.68 ---- 1.62
25 ---- 1.56 ---- 1.44
30 ---- 1.38 ---- 1.25
Any enlightenment would be sweet. I've turned IDLmap to OFF now, and will see what that does tomorrow.. need to get my head around it all.
Cheers!

Heres a table of the values and a graph if it makes it any clearer:

you idle map will be a little lean in the 10 and 15 points, fatten it up a little and it will like to drive off a little better,
it will run fine with it turned to off, just make sure you get all the mixtures right in the 15 10 5 0 maps the 20 map will be used for idle

just to clarify.
i am guessing that the idle map is used at any time when the TPS = 0% or when the rpm is below the IDLmap setting, correct?
Thanks so much!!
