The standard tps works excellent.
You have to understand that all the tps does is switch from IDLE to LOAD maps.
So as long as it goes over 20% when you hit the accelerator and it goes to zero with no foot on the accelerator then getting a full range tps is going to do jack sqaut.

Is it true that a GM TPS can be installed without reconfiguring the Microtech?

depends how you tune and what you use the tps for. IF all you want it for is idle/load switching, then yea you only need the s4 one. But if you tune other things with it, then you want a full range.
