LT10C TPS Calibration Issue – Injectors Cut Off at Idle
LT10C TPS Calibration Issue – Injectors Cut Off at Idle
I’m having a strange problem right now: whenever I calibrate the TPS to use with my LT10C, I can't get the car to idle. It revs and runs fine as long as I don’t let the pedal reach idle/0% TPS. However, if I let it go to zero (idle), the car shuts off the injectors (status box shows 0.000sT) and the engine stalls.
Is my ECU fried, or could it be a TPS failure? I’ve never had this issue before, especially since I’ve used this TPS with other Microtech ECUs without any problems. The ECU works perfectly fine with the TPS disconnected, which is how I was running it before. I wanted to connect the TPS just to use the PUMP via TPS instead of MAP.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not enough information, really. Are you running this in matrix mode or normal mode? If the ECU is spitting reasonable TPS data when you're opening the throttle I'd just look at your idle map to confirm that it's properly populated - maybe you've made a mistake on the vacuum side and at zero throttle input and idle it thinks its in overrun. Have fun with the pain of Microtech diagnostics.
I'm running in matrix mode, the idle map and everything is well tuned, also the DECEL cut is off so I can't really think of anything else that would make the ecu cut off fuel when the tps goes to IDLE.
It's obviously not well tuned if the car dies when it's told its at 0 tps and in idle vacuum. Whether or not it's that map or a separate compensation nobody can really help you with because you're not really giving much information or screenshots and Microtechs are awful for any sort of communal diagnostics due to dongles, hand controllers, requiring ECU connection etc.
At least without the TPS, the car idles and drives pretty smoothly (I know, the ecu does not use the idle map without the TPS hooked up). The idle map worked as expected the last time I hooked up the TPS a while ago, so I'm not sure why it wouldn't work today. I've attached a quick datalog showing how the injectors essentially shut off as soon as the ECU detects 0% TPS.

Still not enough information - this is why Microtech's are painful. If you really want help you'll need to take screenshots of all 5 or 6 screens for the idle function - and probably the 3D chart option as well. It's obviously punting to a zero pulsewidth demand section, more than likely in a spot that was assumed to be overrun in the past.
Problem fixed... here's how the idle map looked while I was troubleshooting:

Everything seemed fine, but out of curiosity, I hit "P" on the keyboard to make a slight adjustment to the idle map. As soon as I started cycling through each MAP box, they all dropped to 0ms, and the entire idle map ended up being set to 0ms across all MAP boxes. I think it was a software glitch… oh well.
Anyway, thanks for the help, dguy. One day, I’ll upgrade to an Elite 550 at least hehe.

Glad you found it, this if you look on the left side where the virtual hand controller is you'll see that it's actually commanding 0.00 at 30" Hg and the visual graph on the right was lying. This is why I was asking for screenshots of each load point - Microtech's emulated hand controller software sux rox.
