Ya... ya... tps... :(

Okay, well what do you think is wrong with my tps? I tried adjusting it, but I donno if I am doing it right, I turned that damn screw so far one way, plugged tps in, started the car up, and the exact same thing happened as my car did before. Then unplugged the TPS, and ran my car like that, and the idle didn't fluctate from 1400-1600 like it usually does, it just sat around 1000 just bouncing a little, then I drove around a bit like that, and the more I drove, the higher the idle got, it could to about 1800, but it was never moving up and down like it was before, just gonna hovering around 1800... has my TPS ogne down the drain? Also with the TPS disconnected, my car backfired alot on decel, which it should do... and I shot some crazy flames at some chicks, haha. Thanks for all the help ahead of time.

if you have a craving for style points just ditch the tps. I mean flames and backfires beat a smooth idle ANY day. Well really i don't know what's going on. I also have no usefull advice for you. Im sorry for wasting your time.

well you need a multi-meter to set the TPS. you probably also have a vaccum leak check all your hoses and gaskets.

Have you performed the Fuel Cut Operation? Drawn some volt readings from the TPS? Are you setting It at 1volt at Idle after FULL warmup?

If after the Fuel Cut Operation fails on you, TPS Is no good.

*edit* Did you adjust the Idle w/o grounging the Initial Set Coupler?

What's the Fuel Cut Operation.. ?

I grounded the Initial Set coupler, and I am using a Multi Meter, I set it at 0.94 ohms at idle, and 3.6 at WOT.

Hold the Engine Speed at 2,000 rpm's and check that the Engine speed varies when the Throttle Sensor Rod Is pushed In with your Finger. If no variance, you have a bad TPS.

As for resistance, Idle position should be 1. Fully open .5 - 1. (Resistance based on s4 na though).

Some confusion here.
First according to the FSM: with engine warm (idle cam off & throttle closed) unplugged TPS (black to orange pins) OHMS = 1000 or 1K with a smooth sweep to 5K as you open the throttle.

Also check the bellhousing to firewall ground & maybe replace it. The ECU uses low voltage, low current signals and weak grounds drive it (& you) nuts.

P.S. I have not been able to get that 1 VOLT reading deal with the initial set grounded & ignition on.
That may only work for S4's?

Okay, I am going to start over, anyone have a write up for adjusting the TPS with a DMM somewhere? The fc3s-pro one is down. It has to be for a S4 please, thanks.

Rx7Nub: have you checked the fast idle screw on the tb? if you haven't you might want to do that.
