The Hitman (quotes)
I've been reading some old theads on the Haltech vs MT, and I was wondering if any of you have encountered these problems.
Quote #1
"I have handled endless Haltech systems and have not had any ignition problems when it is properly configured. I fail to see why "so many" claim to have problems that are the E6K's fault. If you want to see bad ignition control, try turning on the timing lock of an LT and watch it move as the engine is accelerated and decelerated. I can do the same thing with a Mot/Aut/Hal and have the timing scatter maybe 1 degree from idle to redline. Doing this will depend on the trigger used (distributor/cam based triggers will always move a little), but for identical crank triggered systems I have seen enough scatter from MT's to put me personally off using them on my own motors. You don't have to take my word for it, go and check one for yourselves. If it does it with a locked value, who knows what is" happening under load.

"Locked configuration may be good if you don't know anything, but I am sorry to say it but engine management is rather complex to get right and if you cannot even read the manual and configure it you should not be installing it yourself in the first place. the locked configuration is a pain in the butt if you buy one second hand or somply want to change things on the car".
Can someone give a quick explanation of why he says it's a pain in the butt if you buy one second hand. The reason I ask is because mine will be installed in my friends T2 until I finish my motor in a few months. I don't want to have any problems when it comes time to install it on my car.
Ps: I will most likely have (Crispeed) tune my car when my motor is finished, and he knows his **** so I probably wont have any problems. I just want to learn as much as possible on my own.
Thank's fellas
Luis

if the ecu is configured for a 13b s4, s5 or cosmo motor it will work with all of them, if you purchase a chev LS1 ecu and then want to put it on a 13b turbo it will need reconfiguring,
the timing may move a little but not a lot, with the timing lock on my LTX12 the timing dosent move at all, personally i wouldnt let hitman touch my car with a 50ft pole let alone tune it....

Thank's for the reply. I'll be honest with you and tell you that the timing thing worries me a little. Then again I know many people have been running there cars for quite a while now with no problems, so that makes me feel at ease. I also just got my copy of my PuertoRican magazine (Super Compacto) and there's a Beautyfull White T2 (Daily Driven) that just ran 10.50 1/4 running a LT8, so That was nice to see.
BTW: I've been Reading that the Jamboree is coming. I'm sure they'll be plenty of Haltech and MT rotaries out there. Keep it Civil

People like "Rocky" "Anthony.R" "Jon" "Tim" "Rogoli's"

He is a Haltech Dealer and Tuner so of course he
is not going to praise any other EMS other then His!
as for alot of Haltech racing cars at the Aus Jamboree?
good look finding one
There hardly used
check the top 100 fastest
you will get a good picture of what is what
BTW: Chris is awesome!
but there is a Microtech Dealer/Tuner in Miami
I cant recall the name
They do race a white Mirage

Thank's kabboski
I know exactly who they are (World Wide Racing) in Opalaka. My friends 240sx(S15 engine) is there getting the LTX12 tuned. Even though I don't think they deal much with rotaries, the word on the street is that (Switche) is now working with them (He also knows his ****). They also just got a brand new All wheel drive Dyno so it looks like buisness is good. I'll swing by this weekend to see my friends car on the dyno and get some more info on them.

I hear that chris has olso been there tunning some cars, so I'll try and find out how much these guys are charging and let you know.

microtech dealers/tuners!
In Florida the only two that I know of would be 'World Wide Racing' in Miami and also 'Central Florida Turbo' from Orlando. Rolo does the tuning at CFT. I'm not sure who's doing the tuning at WWR but they do have a Dyno available for their use next door and Switchie have been working with 'Doc'(Donald) on his new race car there.

Don't you just love the mudslinging...
There a bunch of people involved in this thread that spew a lot of misnomers that can imply very wrongful impressions.
FAST/QUICK does not mean they can competently tune your street car.  If you're building a race car and all you want is QUICK & FAST, then I got no problem going to any of the listed "experts".  Too many people get caught up quick ET's, fast trap speeds, and lofty dyno power numbers...this does not automatically qualify them as a "competent tuner" for your needs.
There are cars running CARBS under 9-seconds - does this mean well all should convert to carbs?
