Wiring megasquirt into 1st gen rx7

Hi there.
Runnig a 12a bridge port in my 1980 series1 rx7, at the moment just running carb setup but have come across a megasquirt setup, has 12a manifold, x2 throttle bodies, x4 660cc injectors, fuel pressure reg, all fuel hosing, megasquirt I ver3 ecu, loom that i have to run.
I says this on advert...*megasquirt v3 (new) stand alone ecu (easy to install)
fuel/spark
pc/laptop tuneable
runs on map sensor
set rev limits
set soft rev limits
got fan control put in so you dont have to flick fan on and off manualy ....
set what temp you want buy tune
also comes with software for tuning*

Have been told they have had it running on NA 1st gen rx7 so hoping it will start my eng straight away.
Will be running with a electronic distributor, how do i wire it to that?
Do i need a o2 sensor?
Do i need a tps sensor?
What else can any1 tell me before making this purchase so i dont end up owning something i cant use??
How easy is it to tune once installed?
Any help would be great

Hi,

I'll try my best to answer as many Q's as I can..

It's likely that it would start straight away - it would definitely need some tuning...

With electronic distributor, you can setup the megasquirt board to get it's rpm signal from the negative(trigger) of your coil. This depends on how it is setup now, and may require some small modifications to the board - see www.megasquirt.info for details on this...

An O2 sensor is not necessary.

I would recommend a TPS as a ported motor MAP signal is going to be quite noisy and may not be suitable to use for acceleration enrichments. Someone else may have more information on this.

Once installed, you just need a laptop with a serial port, or usb to serial adapter, and the MegaTune software. It is not difficult to tune, however I'd recommend having a wideband o2 sensor for tuning.

Paul.
