Guys, I'm about done with my MS3 conversion and I'd like to get a recommendation on which wideband has worked for people. I figure most will do a good job but anybody had one that works well? Just as importantly, anyone have one that didn't do what it's 'supposed to?

 

Innovate all the way

 

Most guys I've seen with megasquirts run innovate lc-1's without issue. I've used two on two different MS installs without any problems. A couple of O2 sensors have died over the years, but the controllers are still going strong.

 

My experience with Innovate LC-1 was not positive. Very noisy output (using both the MTS chain and analog signals).

It was replaced with an AEM after it began turning itself off after around 10 mins of driving

The AEM inline, no gauge, just the sensor and controller was wired in using the same power, ground and signal wires the LC-1 was using and is great. Very clean signal, and no messing with calibrations.

 

Never had a problem with my old Innovate LC-1/XD-16 gauge, but for my current build I'm going to be using the new Innovate LC-2.

 

I've seen nothing but problems with Innovate. They are VERY ground sensitive and in the past, very easy to fry.

Only ever had one issue with the AEM UEGO and that was a friend who likely damaged the connector on the back of the gauge when pulling wire. Ground connector on the harness ended up damaged which eventually burned the pin and caused weird readings. Incidentally we fixed it by just soldering wires directly to the board and putting a WeatherPack on the other end.

So I always recommend the UEGO.

 

After having 2 LC-1s die (one in my FC and one in my corolla) I ordered a techedge... So far I like it a lot better. Much higher quality than the LC-1 (but also much more expensive) and uses an LSU 4.9 sensor.

 

Yup, I'm with Aaron and eage8, I had a innovate once upon a time, nothing but trouble. Very sensitive with the ground wiring(offsets the reading), changed 2sensors within a few months, and absolutely hated having to take the sensor out for the free air calibration. It's not the sensors fault, it's the controllers functioning that screws it all up.

 

Wow, guess I was lucky with my LC-1. Ran it for a couple of years (including logging with Datalogit) with no problems except needing to replace the O2 sensor after dropping it during free air calibration.

 

Hmm I must be one of the lucky ones too then. Funny, because I'm the most unlucky bastard with everything else!

My lc1 died before I even broke my rebuild in though the controller was mounted in the engine bay and I think heat had something to do with it. Grabbed an lc2 already like it much more. No more terminal plug to loose and I was able to mount the controller inside the car with this one.
