Question Tuning Query - Deceleration

During deceleration I've read that cars and bikes generally retard their timing for this, however looking at Aaron Cakes howto, the high vac bins are a lot higher than the cruise and accel bins..

I'm trying to smooth out my decel a bit, basically when I decel the car is hopping back and fourth in the diff backlash..

MY TABLE

AARONS TABLE:

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.. just going out to do some accel fuel tuning now

Paul.

What AFR's are you seeing on decel? Or are you cutting fuel completely? Also your scale is that TPS% or MAP values? If you're doing it TPS try using values like these for your %:

2.0
5.0
12.0
20.0
30.0
40.0
50.0
60.0
70.0
80.0
90.0
100.0

I find its easier to work with like this when the cruising range is more refined. If its MAP based here's a good scale to go by as it uses more cells in the daily driving range which is more finiky:

25.0
30.0
35.0
40.0
45.0
50.0
55.0
60.0
70.0
80.0
90.0
100.0

I'm personally at a max 31 degrees down there.

My left scale is MAP, I see how you have spaced them a bit differently, I might change that in future to help with tuning, but I'll observe where I drive mainly and set them to that

AFR on decel come up to about 22.. in my accel wizard settings i have decel fuel at 20%.. not really sure about this setting. All i know is if its at 100%, decel is VERY slow :P

I use overrun fuel cut and have it come on rather aggressively. that way whenever I decel there's no fuel to burn.

Then the bottom row of my ignition and fuel tables are set up to make coming out of overrun jolt-free.

I've also recently gotten the code (on ms3) to the point where I can adequately tune EAE with staged injection, and that has made going in and out of overrun very smooth. The car drives as well as or better than new cars from the factory.

I'll be backporting the EAE changes to 3.0.3 if I can find enough space in the flash for the changes.

Thats pretty much what I've done too actually Ken as far as fuel cut and then compensate with a tad bit more fuel in the bottom cell.

I run a lot of timing at decel to keep decel smooth and provide a crisp response when the throttle is applied. Note that this must work in conjunction with decel fuel cut. The large amount of timing also cleans up the exhaust quite a bit and avoids bucking.

With EAE turned on I've been able to lean out the bottom of my table too. I have incorporate AFR turned on so it was as simple as just changing the target AFR. I didn't have to mess with the VE table at all.

I was running it 12.8:1 down there with normal AE to avoid bucking when re-engaging the throttle, and now I'm able to run 14+ there...
