the S4's have a TPS, it just does not sense for the whole range of motion for the throttle. It will sense from closed to right as the 2ndary plates start opening.

All the TPS's i've seen (not just RX-7's) will work with the MS, most of them are just one wire to 5v, one to ground, and one is signal. Most of the MS is built around GM sensors, so im sure one of them would work if you wanted to replace your TPS, but that may be more trouble than its worth

The MS will work with just about any TPS.

I'm using it with the Toyota one on the 20v 4age... I've also used it with an S5 wide-range, and the S4 narrow range, all without problems.

Just keep in mind that the S4 one won't show you the whole range of throttle movement.

Any variable resistance type TPS will work. I fit a Ford unit, others have used GM, or stock. Just make sure it's a true variable resistance type, not just a switch.

Is there any way to tell if a prospective TPS I am looking at is a variable resistance type or just a switch? My S4's TPS just crapped on me, the replacement I scrounged from the junkyard is no better, and I am looking to get a Megasquirt for tuning purposes in the near future.

I used one from a 1999 mazda 626, had to make a bracket but it works nice. Full range also.

yea, you can tell by just taking an ohmmeter and hooking it up between two of the leads, and press the sensor in slowly. If the resistance goes up (or down, just means you chose the wrong two wires) steadily as you press it, then you're good. If you get a sudden on/off type behavior, then its a switch type, and if you get no change, then try different combinations of wires.

1. which model Ford is the TPS?

2. does anyone know of a GM unit that will fit the stock throttle body? I ask only because i'm already using GM sensors for everything else, so I just wanted to just keep it all GM if possible.

EDIT: if I had just waited a few more minutes ... https://www.rx7club.com/megasquirt-f...e-fits-906615/

Cliffs Notes: Custom adapter + Custom bracket + 1995 Chevy Cavalier TPS

Nothing fits the stock throttle body directly, but it is VERY easy to retrofit the Ford TPS commonly used in Haltech installations (I think Haltech even sells it). A simple bracket is easy to make to hold it in place and the stock throttle shaft bolt gets ground to fit. Or weld a rod to the bolt and fit the rod to the TPS instead of messing up the bolt.
