Megasquirt need help tunning accel enrichements
need help tunning accel enrichements
I am stuck I can't get the enrichements right. I have tried mapdot and tps. I got better result with the map but still not driveable. My engine is S4 Half bridge with T04b turbo. I will post my datalogs . Does anybody have number I can try or tips on tunning. I have read the sticky on the msefi site. Still can't get it right.
I'm still having problems getting the best accell enrichment values. Every time I change my VE map it seems that my accell enrichments go weird. At the moment I've got 4.0ms at 15v/s, and very little enrichment below 15 v/s, like 1.0ms, but It could be totally different depending on your setup. I'm using the stock S4 narrow band TPS also. My injector staging is perfectly smooth though thats with 25 cycles of delay.
On my boosted 13b, I have my staging transition based on TPS only. I found the TPS value to stage at by moving the throttle until the secondary butterflies had opened a bit. The TPS value can then be read from MegaTune by reading the rawADC value fetched during TPS calibration. I have mounted a full-span TPS, and tossed those problematic plunger-type units.
Staging based on rpm or map causes a stumble under gentle accel in my setup, as the secondaries end up squirting into the secondary runners where there is no airflow. Transition cycles adjustment doesn't solve this problem.

It depends on what rpm you set up to use, and whether you use the dual parameter staging. With dual parameter and an rpm set at around 4200 or so, I've never gotten a lean spot. I just tell it not to stage until I'm above about 70 kPa, and 4200 rpms.
We had a wide-range tps, but never used it for staging because we didn't need it (and when we tried, it still gave us a bit of a stutter.)

In my boosted install, even with 2nd parameter set as high as 110 kPa, it's still possible to get to that boost level before the secondary throttle plates have opened. I could get away with 4500 rpm setting in an earlier n/a configuration, and the transition was very good. That doesn't work in boosted mode, as my 550 primaries won't feed enough fuel under boost for that setting. TPS-only works for me, but there are enough staging settings that everyone should be able to find something that meets their needs.
I run a custom (Ford, IIRC) TPS mounted direct to the shaft. Here's an older pic that shows the TPS. It's mounted to an aluminum bracket that bolts to a couple unused 6mm tapped holes in the UIM. The TB cable attachment was simplified, and reworked so the stock FB throttle cable can be used instead of that long FC-turbo type.

Yeah, I haven't done much testing with the parameters on boost... but the settings I'm using work great for NA.
I'll probably add TPS to the 2 parameter code later as well.
I know some of the other guys (rex4life, who I originally wrote the gradual staging code for) use the gradual staging and maybe second parameter code with turbo cars... so I guess there are many ways to reach the same goal!
Anyone who can should really go with a TPS like the one renns has... I hate those plunger types... but MAPdot works well on these engines, so the only thing I'd really use the TPS for is the idle advance (if you want to use that feature).

Muy, have you had any reported MAPdot problems? I ran MAPdot briefly, but had some problems with it false-triggering up around 5k. Seems it was picking up intake resonance in the dynamic chamber, and triggering accel enrichment, then decel fuel cut, then accel enrich, then decel fuel cut.... Felt like I hit the fuel cut rev limiter! By bumping the threshold up to avoid this problem, the accel tuning sensitivity was gone, so I just switched back to TPS type, and never looked back. This was with a stock S4 FC intake.
