Leading Coil ignition issues

I just got a project S5 vert wired and started up,
settings were taken as per AaronCake's writeup,
the car is exhibiting missing, detonation, and the leading coil is getting hot, very hot.

searched a bit, the coil is in the stock location,
Although my plugs are new and the cables have only a couple hundred miles on them I'll pick up new ones, what else would cause it.

(edit)
oh I forgot to mention

Leading coil getting hot sounds like the spark output has the wrong polarity. It should be set for "normal."
