I need help with boost tuning
I went out today for an half hour to road tune. Getting up in boost, I am getting different afrs in the same bins like everytime. It was pissing me off!
I think it has something to do with my staging. Using the table staging and I guess I cant get it right. I was changing bins left and right trying to readjust. Id go through an area and Id be too rich like 10.9, so Id adjust that area on the fly till it came down to like 12.0. Id go through the same boost and rpm area and Id be mad lean like 14.5. I guess Im lucky I didnt blow the motor...
I am only targeting 5 psi right now obviously because I cleary dont know what I am doing.

I haven't used the table-based staging, but I've gotten it to work pretty well when staging at 80% of the primary duty cycle. Can you get it to work consistently with table based or RPM x MAP based staging (basically ruling out mechanical issues)?

I am using a HKS wastegate and apexi twin chamber bov with a greddy boost controller. And I dont like the boost controllers setup at all. Boost isnt spiking from what I can tell, nor is it falling off. But then again I cant seem to get up past 4000rpm even on boost, because the afrs are so inconsistant.
I even tried the method of braking while going WOT to build boost in the rpm column, and then it would go all nuts stuttering and super lean in every gear at every rpm range I could get the car to accellerate to.
Ken: The msq I posted was before screwing with the staging table, even though messing with the staging table never helped. It was also before trying to adjust the VE table while driving.

Here is a screen grab of what I was doing in boost. It wasnt going anywhere at all, probably because it was a little too rich, but I would adjust that down on the table some and it would swing the other way completely. Just really inconsistant.

Can you explain how you think the table-based staging works?
I want to make sure you're trying to use it correctly.
How it actually works is that 0% staged means primaries only, 100% staged means primaries and secondaries get the same pulse-width.
anything in between is "partially" staged.
If you set the staged amount too low then you'll probably be fighting with the injector opening time and the amount of fuel going in will be inconsistent. You'll want to start with 20 or 30% staged and in the bins where you turn on staging, set the bins very close together (between 0% staged and when it first comes on).
