highest hp for ms user.

As the title says who got the best hp out of the ms setup. I plan for some good number. I have got bridgeported S5 block S4 NA rotors with T04B divided 60-1 1.15a/f tube style manifold external wastegate.

my goal is 265 on my stock S4 turbo, then after I get comfy will be tuning my 60-1 and aiming for 350 rwhp conservativly. Big horepower turbo 7's is not really something thats been done in the MS community so far as what I've seen, But im hoping that we can soon change that.

Almost noone :-) Well, it's not what the dyno kings are considering but my lowly 12A streetport, etc. has done 167rwhp.

Yes, it's NA. 2x50 TB, decently open exhaust (but fairly quiet), electric fan, etc., etc. It all adds up, especially in a fairly light 1st gen. Running MS2 chip/v3 board w/ WB for realtime tuning. It's all good.

Megasquirt II ? I thought the MS2 doesn't support rotary ?

You can certainly fire leading only in a wasted spark config with MSII - (FC coil firing both leadings). The dyno session was where I tried several variations with the stock ignition. Long story short, deleting trailing spark cost around 1 hp - well within the margin of error of the dyno. Trailing spark on an NA install, IMHO, only contributes to emissions control. There's a couple of "Rotary Engine" PDFs on http://smrmicro.com that detail Mazda's findings. That said, I do plan on working diligently to add full trailing support to MSII. The plugs are there, we should use them. The Extra code works fabulously well in rotary support at this time, my main reason for going MSII is the better granularity in fueling as well as the fact that it's written in C, which I understand much better than assembler. My car is a semi-daily driver with a full time backup (RX8) so I have the latitude to play with various concepts.

cool, I was planning on fixing up the wheel decoder interrupts to run faster, and planning on adding trailing support as well.... but if you have time to do it, be my guest

I'll be speaking with you soon re ideas on how to logically implement trailing. Please do not assume I have your gift of modding this code, I'm just trying to understand it better so I can help you if necessary. I'm still trying to get my head fully wrapped around the ign logic in the MSII code. I'm thinking I'll wait until things are a little more stable with the beta code - I discovered one little problem where once in a while the coil charge won't turn off in case of a sudden stall. Let the magic 921 smoke free on one of them. Even with current limiting and heatsunk, those puppies get hot FAST when just turned full on. In theory this shouldn't be able to happen but I can reproduce it.

the 921 problem you just mentioned, was that on msns-extra?

If so I'll have a look.

That 921 problem is on the wheel decoder in ms2? I thought for leading only there you were using a stock 2nd gen coil/ignitor...

It's running on the bench right now, I'm using the 921 to fire an FC leading coil. It's MSII 2.61 code. It's really a non-problem if the coil is provided +12 via the FP logic. I'm just curious as to why it's happening. It only shows up once about every 12-20 simulated hard stalls from 2000-2400 rpm. This is unlikely unless someone dumps the clutch without enough throttle on something with lots of traction or linelock activated.

I haven't done any work with the ms2 yet, but I'll be sure to add that to the list of things to check for when testing when I get around to it.

Megasquirt wont be a limit for hp. ANY EMS can do peak power easily. The difficultly is in having it start easily the first time, cold or hot, and driveability, and transient behavior... say, youre at 5K under boost, drop the throttle, under vacuum it has vac advance, and you drop the gas again - if it knocks or not.

THATS the test of MS. Supporting mega high hp isnt an issue, and the newer boards having such low pulse widths can use big fat injectors and still have good driveability.

The MS handles all that just fine... it's really up to the driver to tune more than anything else. If you're using my 2 parameter staging code you avoid having super-low pulse-widths, even above 5000 rpms...

Tuning things like startup behavior is even easier...
