FC 1st tooth angle?
FC 1st tooth angle?
I am helping my cousin, who rebuilt a t2 motor. We set it up with the factory CAS and coils with MS3X. When we line the first mark to the left on the pointer with the timing fixed to -5 btdc with the first tooth angle at 5deg, it runs rough, smokes and smokes a lot. If we set the first tooth to 60 or 65 degrees, the timing indicator goes way clockwise, but the motor smooths out and runs good.
We are so confused, and can not figure this out. Thanks in advance for any help with this!!

Solved the issue
After asking more questions, found out that the motor was built from parts out of 2 different engines. The crank pulley and hubs got mixed, as soon as we put the other pulley on the motor, the mark lined up where the engine ran great.
