Car was running...kinda

Well today, I finally got it to run kinda. I started it without the map sensor(forget about it) and it ran but real rich and could not idle well. Then, stop it and tried it with map sensor and it did nothing. Like a few cranks and flooded I think. When is my next step? I am not sure what to change?

Thanks again guys.

you probably fouled the sparkplugs when you started w/o the MAP sensor. I'd suggest at least taking the plugs out and cleaning them.

it's possible that you have some settings wrong then, but without knowing what settings you're using (specifically for the wheel decoder and trigger angle), it'll be hard to troubleshoot.

and I'll look at it after work assuming I get done with fixing my car's wiring harness (finally I'll have some time for that).

What VE table are you using?

On your spark menu, I think some people have had success setting Time Based and crank adv. angle to 0, then returning to trigger return mode.
You also will want to look at your idle advance settings.
Correct me if I'm wrong but:
At the RPM and TPS settings, idle advance is active BELOW the set value. For TPS, make sure you've calibrated it, and this value reflects something you would expect to see with a small amount of throttle. For RPM, maybe use something like 1k or 1200..

For coolant, this means idle advance is active ABOVE this value. I use 0 for this setting.
Lastly, the wait time is the time in seconds the ECU waits to activate idle advance. I use 0, but 1 or 2 seconds might be wise as the counter starts as soon as the ECU is powered up, not afterstart.

AT this point I suspect that you just need to get fuel tuned properly for idle... usually that's the biggest hurdle to getting an engine to start.

Well, it looks to me that you have not set or calculated your VE table, yet. Is it turbo or NA?
Your other major settings in the Constants and Spark look okay to me, but Ken can read it better.

Be sure to read:

NA S4 with stock wiring harness. I am using a ecu plug. So I can still plug in the stock ecu if I want to or need to!

Thanks
Derek

If you have not yet even calculated a VE table, then you probably won't be able to get the car to start.

Also, please... the next bump will be removed.

I do on my new version on my msq file. But have not tried it yet(raining alot and not time). What are good numbers for hp and torque and what rpm. I am using factory figures but I am unsure how good those number are?

Sorry....about the bump.

Thanks Muy

Well, the factory numbers will probably give you a table that's a bit too lean... I'd suggest increasing those numbers quite a bit, or when you calculate your req_fuel, you can enter a number like 12.2:1 for the AFR instead of 14.7:1...

That'll make your req_fuel higher, which is similar to scaling every number in the VE table.
