AFR Target Tables for TII

Did a search and the only thing I could find was tables for an NA. They were suggesting 13.2 above 70kpa and xxxxRPMs and 14.0-14.7 everywhere else. but would that also apply to a turbo car? my VE table goes up to 205kpa. i don't plan on ever running more boost than that.

88 TII Streetport w/stock turbo, stock intercooler, 720/850 injectors.
Running MSnS-E with 029t code.
Fuel only at 10-12psi
Staged injection at 3100rpms and 150kpa(~7.8psi).

i was reading on the innovate site that 12-13 AFR is the best for power. but i remember reading somewhere a while ago about rotaries needing to be much richer during high boost running, like 11.xx AFR's. and what do things need to be set at for say, high rpm but low kpa? should i follow the suggestions given to the guy with the NA but run a little richer in the boost area? do i need to run richer and richer as the rpms go up or as the boost goes up?

there's no sense in tuning this thing too lean or too rich. so what is the best conservative suggestion for an AFR target table???? I have access to a dyno, but HP numbers aren't important right now. i just want to drive this thing around on the megasquirt without worrying about blowing it up.

I'll have to keep an eye on my primary DC's. it's possible i'll have to lower the staging rpm or kpa value if the primary duty cylces are hitting near 85% before the secondaries come online.

i hope i haven't left anything out. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well, it idles great

88 TII streetported
MSnS-E w/ 029t code
Fuel Only for now.

After two years of letting my completed MS collect dust, it's finally installed. It took a really good friend to kick me in the but and tell me to get on with it.

Met a few bumps in the road, but it's in. Had issues with the tach signal and tps but it was all easily fixed. Then had a configuration error for some strange reason so i redid the copyini and downloadfirmware thing and it seemed to have fixed it.

got home tonight and figured since all the sensors were working why not try and see if it starts. i turned off all enrichments and EGO correction. and low and behold, fired right up. idled smoothly at 800-900 rpms and 55-60kpa. i'm using VE tables from another Squirter with very similar setup. his VE bins in the idle area were set to 60. i lowered them down to 52 with no issues. any lower and i started to get a rough idle and would stall if i set it really low.

i have the injector harness set up so that i can plug the injectors up to either the MS or the N333 ECU whenever i want. so if for some reason the MS quits working, i won't be stuck anywhere. just swap plugs and continue driving. because i'm not tuned yet, i'll be driving around on the N333 like i have always been. until i have good AFR targets to tune for, i'll be using the stock ecu. if you have reliable suggestions for AFR targets, please post them in the thread found here:

I'd like to welcome myself to the "Running on MegaSquirt Club"

there's no reason to have two threads here, so I'm going to combine your two threads into one.

oh, well, one thread was just a general "hey, i'm running megasquirt" and the other was to address something more specific. but whatever. if it makes you happy.

It was unlikely that anyone would post much to your other thread... and having a lot of threads like that clutters up the forum, making it harder to find info.

Nothing personal, just want to keep things clean.

As far as the AFRs listed in that thread... I'd say around 12-13:1 for idle, 14-15:1 (or higher) for cruise, 12:1 up to 5 psi, 11:1 for 5 and above.

Also, I wouldn't recommend using the AFR target tables at all on boost, but instead run open-loop, and hand-tune, starting out rich, and leaning out a bit at a time.

I suggest this b/c the msns-extra closed-loop algorithm causes the AFR to oscillate slightly lean to slightly rich and back... if the closed-loop settings are too aggressive, the "slightly lean" part on boost could turn into "popped engine"

so use the wideband to manually tune the VE tables but have EGO correction turned off. i don't think there is an option to have EGO correction on for only a given RPM range(cruising), but only above a certain RPM.

i guess i could use the auto tune feature when i'm just driving around like a normal person. and then turn EGO correction off for tuning the boost area. if that makes any sense

Go to 'Open Loop Mode' settings under the 'More Settings' menu, and you'll see settings for TPS or MAP open loop mode. You can then define the open-loop threshold to suit.
