I have a 36-1 crank wheel and 3 smart coils. I would like to run the leading spark as wasted spark. I would like to use the third coil through the distributor to select the trailing spark plug.
Will this work set for FC mode? This is on a 1974 13B engine.
why you want to do that and just let the ecu to have full control of the spark.
I want to use only the cap and rotor to place the trailing spark. The ECU will control the dwell and timing. I do not have a "coil select" ignition coil like the factory used.
Thanks for the good laugh peejay ! I suppose if I get another coil the thing could be set up as 'coil on plug' and the time available to charge the coil will double. Time is something I run out of using wasted spark around 6000 rpm and the boost will make it fail around 3500. I don't think I need a 36-2-2-2 for full sequential ignition and fuel.
elturbonitroso Thanks for your reply since it got me thinking in a new direction.
I used an old saw blade with 30 teeth to make a 30-1 test wheel to run in the saw against a VR pickup. It is running 4 coils sequentially very clean for as rough as the saw blade is.
Here is a picture of the engine logger for the spark out.
I tried to save a log file so I could look at the signals. Re loading that file would not show the same as the picture, but just a blank log.
In order to get this picture I had to make a screen shot while things were moving. Its not easy to keep the saw running while getting a screen shot from the computer LOL. Here shows L1 T1 L2 T2 very clean. I am set to FD mode with coil on plug.
