no spark on trailing coil.
iight guys, heres the senerio. i was setting my hard idle screw on the throttle body for the car. and all the sudden, it dies. i try to crank it back up to no avail. it will try to turn over, but wont stay running. i test the leading coils, plenty of spark. i test the trailing coils, and nothing, no spark, not even trying to give me a faint amount of spark. so i tested the wires going to the ecu see if somehow they had gotten disconnected somewhere between the ecu and the coils. they were fine. hook up the multimeter so i can see if theres any source comeing from the MT to the coils to tell it when to spark, and nothing. so in essence, my trailing coils have everything they need to spark, except power from the MT to tell it when to fire. what would cause this? and how can i fix it???
thanks

Put some new plugs in it,
if you are using a timing light to see if there is spark and the plugs are fouled you will not see any sprak through the lead,
generally for first start up and getting things sorted put a set of cheap hot plugs in it like NGK b7em or something similer.

hey dale, i had a new spark plug to test the spark from the trailing coil and the i have a spare i test that stuff with so i dont have to take the spark plugs out of the car to test the wires. anyways, the leading coils worked. the trailings did not, i wasnt getting a signal from the ECU to the coil for it to spark....
Thanks

is it running now??
check that you have over 10v when cranking, if not you will not get enough power to fire all 4 coils, check the wiring between the cas and ecu and also the ecu and coils,

yep, i got it running today....it was a combonation of 2 things.....
1. somehow i put the ECU into test mode... so it wasnt actually fireing the injectors or the coils.
2. when i figured out that it was in test mode. i ran outta gas.... oh well, it needed a fresh tank of premix +93 in there anyways
thanks again dale.....all is running and i should have the car off the jackstands and driveing for the first time in months in a few hours

glad you got it all working,

yeah my trailing plugs not sparking to under cranking but leadings are, I guess that not the issue then? I did a compression test and both rotors where about 75 88 88 abouts I used trailing spark plug holes for that test is that correct ? so what is mode test and how do you reset it , also if battery has been removed for a month is that an issue? iv brought new Lads and plugs fitted still not running, my first rx8 toy not a grate start at moment...any help would be appreciated
