2 questions No spark and where does the coil wire go

I Hvae the version 3 megasquirt wired up and and I have been trying to crank it and I don't get any spark at all. I check for power at the coil and there is none. I have checked all fuses and everything else I can think of and I can't find anything that stands out. Also It was a while back when I wired the megasquirt up and I am questioning the wire that I wired in for the coil to the megasquirt. Could someone tell me which wire I believe it is wire number 36 where it wires in to in the coil. Thankyou in advace if this is confusing. If you need more info just ask I will check back soon.

It really depends on how you have the inside of the megasquirt set up. There is no particular pin that is the spark output. It depends on which extra pin you chose when you were building the MS

This was a pre built megasquirt. Also I have power at the coils now just no spark. Another question. When I hooked this harness up It was a while back and I only hooked up 2 wires on the cas is this correct. Could you point me in the right direction to were you look to wire that part if it is wrong.

the FAQ has everything you need to know for how to get spark working.

If you did not build the harness or MS, chances are it was not built properly for running a rotary.

Who did you get it from?

It was built buy protocar they are listed on the links on the megasquirt site. I had to go in and solder the pull up resistors for the coils. I ground down the teeth so I wouldn't have to do the other lm1815. The only thing I didn't think about that I am wondering about is the resistor for the air tempature sensor. I am using the stock one and I didn't change it so it has to probably be changed doesn't it. Also I want to go ahead and thank you for the help in advance that you have givin me. Go ahead and Pm me your address and I will send you those ecus I told you about.

In addition to those pullup resistors, did you solder wires from the negative leads of the LEDs to any of the spare pins at the back of the MS?

One last question I think I have found what they have forgotten on this board or I should say I think I have found what I have to do to fix it to make it rotary acceptable. The three wires to the coils that are in the diagram above that you metioned to me how would you g about hooking them up. Would you find wires in the harnes that aren't being used and solder from the led to the harness or is their another way. Thanks in advance.

run wires from the negative terminals of the LEDs to extra pins... the one connected to the led closest to the serial port is leading, middle is trailing coil select, and last is trailing IGT.

You can find a diagram of this in the FAQ.

I found the diagram I just wasn't sure if I was supposed to run the wires outside of the box or to the extra pins. I wanted to make absolute sure. Thankyou so much for all your help hpefully next post will be of the car starting at least for a minute.

Ok I did everything I was supposed to and I got spark fially but it is not right. I barely get ay spark at all the first time I fired the car it fired correctly and that was it. I have checked everything solder joints wires everything over and over. I started checking software settings and I believe I have all of them correct as well. One other question on the wiring diagram for a rotary there is a brown wire coming from pin 36 I believe that says coil/ignition module. Where exactly does this wire hook up? I am sorry to have been an on going tragedy case with this.

you don't have to worry about pin 36.... that pin is the one normally used in un-modded installs.

Got ya thank you again for the help. I just don't get it. This car has plagued me from the begining. I had spark the first crank and then that was it and the rest of the day it was like It got worse and worse. I hook the squirt to the stim and everything seems to function correctly. I hook it to the car and now I get nothing no lights flashing and no spark. My buddy said if he holds his hand on the plg wire with a screwdriver in it while I crank it over he can feel a very little spark pulse even though you can't see anything if you ground it and try to see an arch. I have a question. Could I have soldered the pull up resistors in the wrong place. I was following the diagram on the faq and I know relize that is a version 2.0 board and I have a 3.0 Do you possibly have a picture of a version 3 board made for a rotary so I can compare to mine? Thank you in advance!

if none of the LEDs are lighting up, you may not have any power. I don't have any pics of a v3 board modded for a rotary... but I'm also pretty sure seeing one wouldn't help... I can post one anyway if I find time.

I got flashing leds for the first crank and that was it. Then the squirt will flash for the intial crankover once and that is it.

does it show rpms the whole time you're cranking?

You really should post an msq... it'd help us debug your problem.
