Angry t2 vs GTI

so i'm on the expressway when this new gti comes rolling up and i start to taunt the guy (being a butwhole) and he just lets me go by. i noticed when he came back up on me that it had some badging next to the gti in the front grill. when he comes up he gives me a little blowoff action and it puzzled me because it had this funny fluttering sound to it. the only other time i heard a blowoff valve like that it was on a forum vid and the 7 owner replided that it was the wastegate. so we are side by side and i point to his car and then my own asking if he wants to go and i get the nod. as soon as i downshift he takes off i think he was brake boosting. he puts a car on me and i start to real him in slowly with my bumper gaining ground on his driver door and he shut it down because he was out of room! Dammit killed! i'm sure that i would've got him with more room but i was done in. i don't seem to understand how i can kill a r32 golf easily putting cars on him but had to creep up on a gti? it was a good run and i can take nothin away from that VW cause it ran strong!

My bud has a modded gti with intake, exhaust, dp. they mod pretty well and can be fast in a straight line, but have serious body roll problems.

brake boost or not, he will make instant full boost. that's what happens to me sometimes when i race evo's so now i always brake boost. and don't you know about the honk method??? nobody just nods and races.. you gotta honk 3 times then rock out that way it's an even start. you would have Pwn3d his *** had you guys done it that way. WOOOT!

An R32 has a naturally aspirated 3.2 liter close ratio 6 cylinder engine. The cylinder are laid at 15 degrees from eachother instead of 45 degrees in a normal V6. This allows for a more space and weight efficient engine, but still gives moderate torque benefits because of the cylinder angle. The R32 is also a DOHC engine instead of the normal SOHC VR6. It makes significantly more power than a regular VR6 (240 over 172) and improves the power band. The VR6 also has an active haldex rear differntial and a speed sensitive open exhaust system. At WOT over 70 MPH the exhaust is completely flow through for maximum HP and torque. Combine all this with a close ratio 6 speed transmission and you have yourself an Autobahn cruiser.

1.8t engines are easy to upgrade and can provide enough HP to play with your T2. Where he probably got you was the torque. A 1.8t has a better power band because it is a piston engine. In a straight line you would've probably eventually won though.

GodSquadManBrake i was pulling back up on him but like i said he ran out of safe room in his lane and FbII as soon as i downshifted he was off so there was no chance for brake boosting!

Pushing the brake and gas at the same time from a roll. Puts a load on the motor and builds boost so there isn't as much lag as just gunning it.

so all you do is brake while ur accelerating then once the 3rd horn goes you're off the gas and WOT right? Isnt that kind of like engine torquing but on automatics and you're rolling?

fc3sfreek we weren't going from a dig we were going from about 70. i'm already know that i would have pulled on him from a light by the way i was walking him back down! like i say though if a n/a could have taken him from this speed i'd have to see it cause that means you can take a t2 and i don't see that happening with the mods that you spoke of. i know its some fast n/a's out there but with those mods i doubt it!

I have a GTi 337 6 speed with chip, racing clutch, intake, BOV and some other little things and off the line i get no traction until 3rd gear. The good thing about these little cars is that they boost instantly, pull hard, but loose it in the top end.
Now throw in a bigger turbo and they'll give you a run for your money!

They are quick though, I've had no problems beating Gt's, Wrx's, 350Z, etc.
If you would have kept going you would have killed him, but off the jump, it'll get you for a bit until you start boosting hard.

No doubt there are different ways of doing it. I have a Volkswagen too and I appreciate it for what it is.

FWD just creates some interesting problems like traction and front heavyness.
