so this budy of mine just got a 90 crx that suposevly can run 12's in a 1/4 and thought he could just flat smoke me in my 2dn gen rx7 that just is steet ported with 3" apexi exhaust eith some other little modds. so we went out and raced on a road that was about 3 miles long. we did a 2nd gear roll on and he took me off the start but once i hit 60mph it was dead even i pasted him at 130 and slowly pulled away. I shoud have put some money down but i thought he was going to smoke me.

my brother has the rx7 and i just sold the crx to my friend pat
first off the crx was not 8,000 i sold it for 2,000 and it was not 20 pounds of boost it was 5 pounds the reason i know that is because i put on the turbo kit and the wastgate is only set up to run 5 lbs the motor is all stock becides the turbo and the 114 octain that the dum *** i sold it to put in it.
and i trashed the **** out of the pos honda

 

so i hope this clears things up my brother needs to figgure out the facts first before he post it for hundreds of people to see

Yes. My car was run by the previous owner at the track. He had it clocked on the starightaway at 131 MPH by a radar. This was with 200k on the motor, open exhaust, Bonez intake and a RB aluminim flywheel.

 

I had mine at more than 130... It sounded like it was going to pop and I am not 100% sure but I believe it took more than 3 miles to get there... This was on an open highway too, so it was not like it was from a dead stop... Of course mine is pretty much all stock... Come to think of it... I dont think I have gone up against a car that hasnt beat me except for a civic once... Damn I need a turbo...

 

ya im saveing for a turbo to what kind of turbo would be best to run on my 88' it gets up to 100 pretty fast but after that it takes awhile

 

Have you ever ridden in a turbo 7? What you think is fast is really actually slow in the rx7 world its a beautiful thing wait till you see the true potential of your rotary. Just make sure to become friends with the guys in the second gen section because it sounds like you may need quite a bit of help. Anywho.. what motor is in that CRX? Even if its boosting 5lbs that car is light as **** and can fly with minimal power.

 

it is the d16a2 non vetc i came out of a 1991 with the p28 chip that makes it only rev to 5800 rpms
the car tops out at 110 because of the chip
the turbo kicked in about at 4200 rpms then the stuped chip kicked in right as it started to spool
that is why 5 lbs of boost hardly did any thing

 

 

althought crx sucks, you would never keep up against a 20psi d16 unless you have your car with a big **** streetport and a well amount of nos, now you kept with him at 5 psi, if it would've been at 20 you would've seen only his brake lamps when he stop a mile away from you just to wait till you get there.

 

Jason (NYCRotaryrocket) took his to 141 going to rotorfest in his N/a and he has intake an a racing beat CB.

CRX's have *** topends just like early 240's they basically **** out after 130 on stock gearing. Hell my friends 91 240 stock back in the day we maxed it out at 118 and it wouldn't go any faster.

I'm sure he beat your *** from 0-100 though other wise something is definetly wrong with his car. 20psi on any honda engine should move faster then an n/a Fc street ported. Top end I do believe you got him but it must have been a long *** road
