Man, I would call the cops and bring them to his door RIGHT now.
Not only can you own him for wrecking your car, but there WILL be drugs around that they can get OWNED by possessing.
Target locked, Sidewinders Launched.

Nice story . A pleasant surprise to find something well written on this forum. Almost reads like a detective novel. Good job figuring things out!!
I would let the police handle the guy. You should find out who he is insured with, and place your claim with them. Since it is a nice truck, it is likely that he is insured. Once the claim is placed, his company will find out that he did this on purpose. His insurance will be cancelled on renewal, and he will be really screwed when he tries to get new insurance. He may even get his license suspended. You should get some satisfaction from that.
As far as suing him, don't count on that. He damaged your property. He didn't injure you. As long as your property is repaired, you don't really have a case. While your car is in for repair, make the insurance company provide you with a nice rental car. Perhaps a Vette . If you press the issue, they should have to provide you with a comparable replacement vehicle. When my car got scraped in the front, I got them to get me a BMW . No vettes for rent around here .
Good luck

He did it intentionally, which a good lawyer could argue caused emotional damage, and that his trust of people has been damaged emotionally by this person, requiring punitive damages in addition to the costs to repair the car...
Plus, you don't have to prove *** in court to get his money if he's convicted (civil court requires less proof than criminal court, too)
The truck would probably be a good start
Don't expect a million-dollar settlement though...lol

Sad story. Can't wait to see the outcome though. I hope ur car gets repaired and then some.
I hope you get some money to pay for tuition too. Emotional damages can never be repaired, but you can sure as hell buy them off.
It sucks that one of your own friends would even think of doing somthing like this to you even if you havn't talked to him in a while.
Scum bags like him should be persecuted to the fullest extent of the law. You can easily have his liscence suspended and have hijm kicked off campus permenently.
Good luck

I love **** like this. Im glad you found them and they will get what they deserve. So whats the progress, did you inform the police of the connections you made? I also agree that you should keep your findings very quiet so when the cops show up to your former friends place theyll find the drugs and related paraphernalia.

I hope your ex-friend doesn't know your a member of this forum....
But then again... he's a burnout. If he knew, he has probably forgotten by now.
Its pretty sad that looking out for a friend because you don't want them to become a burnout can turn into something like this..

It was clearly intended to damage the person (although not physically) as well as the car.
Therefore, punitive damages.
(Hell, even Ron Goldman's parents got money from O.J., even though he was aquitted in court...)
Plus, money is money to a lawyer. If a lawyer will take the time to appear in traffic court (they do, all the time), I THINK they'd be willing to take this case.
