FD vs TT stealth
FD vs TT stealth
Was driving back to a friends house, spotted a clean red FD with atleast an exhaust on it. We cleared traffic, got down to about a 20 mph crawl, he honked 3 times and took off. Sadly I can't go from second into first, so he walked me pretty hard up til about 60. Got back onto a larger road, and went from about 40, and I stuck with him a bit better. He was slowly walking me, but I think from a dig I'd stand a far better chance. He gave me a thumbs up before parting ways, was a good death!
Was just curious if anyone knew who he is? Its a red FD RX-7 located in Northern Virginia.
Thought I'd share!

Oddly enough I had the tranny rebuilt not too long ago, but I let a friend of mine drive it who has a Mustang with an aftermarket shifter. In his car all you do to shift from second to third is slam the shifter upwards, it has a gate on it that puts you into third. When you try that in my car.. it puts it in first. Needless to say trying to shift the car from second to first at 70 mph ate my sychro. Other then that my tranny is fine, all the damage that I had repaired was done by the owner before me.
Yessir.

I think he meant he wanted to shift into 1st for the 20mph start...

Not too sure honestly, (oh yeah I have exhaust duh) it came with the car, along with the exhaust... and speakers that were wired up backwards, blown clutch and smoking turbos. Car was owned by a doctor the first time around, who modded it to hell, then back to stock, sold it to a college kid who had no idea what he was doing who then installed a shitty stereo system, blew the turbos and the clutch, and then sold it to me for cheap.
I want to say that if I were to buy one now though, it'd be about $1K.

well my car wont go into first unless I'm going under 20 (isn't that a safety thing that wont allow it?).. well it will go if i force it but i never do that..
there is no syncro for 1st. You can force it in, BUT you have to mesh the gears at the right time and even then they might grind. Old cars did not have synchros and shifted gears this way(i wanna say 50s and earlier but I'm not sure).
If you need to load up the car try brake boosting it in 2nd but with stock turbos, why would you need to?

only gear that doesn't have a synchro is reverse, all others have one except 1st is so low geared in almost any car that it is very difficult to put any manual gearbox into 1st while rolling more than 5MPH unless you rev match before trying to force it.
Drove a 93 stealth TT, they got Bullocks, they are big small cars(weigh a lot, not musch interior room)
-also there tranny's are real expensive and mods are expensive to, but none the less I have a soft spot for them, still had to get the RX7 when it came down to it.
-Good Luck with the mitsu, and
