FD vs new m3

coming back from buying oil for the fd, i see one of my old highschool friends that i heard has a new m3. i give face and motion him that i want a piece of his ride. as we got onto the highway we did a rolling start from 1st gear to a little bit of 3rd. we couldnt really gun it all out, because of the cars infront of us. but surprisngly though first and second it was even untill i put her into third where i was starting to walk away, but i had to break hard.

at this point i was impressed at the bmw, but as soon as all traffic was clear. we gave it a run from around 65mph. this is where it got really ugly. i waited till he downshifted and put it in the magical whip my head back into the chair 3rd gear. immediately i started pulling and had a couple car lengths by the end of 3rd. so for ***** n giggles i ran 4th up to 120 and widened the gap prolly a bus and a half or two.

i really hope his car was stock, because ive had rsx's give me a better race than that. to top it all off i still had alot of tools and crap in the trunk from my 7stock trip and a passenger. m3's maybe chick magnets, but it aint no match for a fd. i really think a stock fd can take one out.

my power mods:
m2 intake
m2 downpipe
m2 large smic
single tip racing beat catback
m2 stage 3 ecu

m3 mods:
????????
hopefully stock
????????

i wouldnt go ahead and start bashing the new ones just yet. I ran into a pretty fast one a few weeks ago...later that week i found out its a brand new limited edition type M3. Although a short little burst through 2nd and part of 3rd i have to admit i was expecting to walk away from it and to my surprise it stayed with me...dont know if its modded or stock(looked really bad *** though) but it was the fastest bimmer i've ran into by far.
good kill on your high school buddy there pal!!!!

Are you talking about the brand new ones that aren't in production yet?

Anyway good race. M3s are sexy and fast cars.

Stock FD take one out? Don't think so. They dyno a hair under 300rwhp. They aren't the fastest car out there, but a stock FD in good health is going to be 215-220rwhp.

With those mods, at a decent boost level, you should be around 300-310rwhp. With about 400lbs less, you shouldn't have a problem with a stock E46 M3. However, the FD will never touch it in daily driver practicality.

I love my FD, but the M3 is just a different car (in a good way).

It doesn't take that long. I've had all sorts of things repaired on the car and it has less than 23k miles on it.

When I'm talking "daily driving practicality", I'm not talking "blowing apex seals" and or engines in general. I'm talking about everyday comforts like climate control systems, seating for 4, being able to safely fit a babyseat (for those more mature drivers), large trunk, and the list goes on. I daily drove my RX7 for years, I know what it's like. I daily drive an M3 now... Night and day difference.

The RX7 is a good car for what it is. However, it is an older car and always will be.
