I had a 03 gixxer 1000 before.

these are the mph/gear

1st gear = 80mph
2nd gear = 105mph
3rd gear = 130mph
4th gear = 155mph
5th gear = 175mph
6th gear = 200mph?

The fastest I did on my bike was around 186mph so I don't really know

Go get the new Road & Track Speed Magazine and read it you might be suprised.

The only reason a car would beat a modern day crotch rocket is if the rider doesn't know how to ride and a lot of them don't.

Not to mention the fact that a practically stock R6 has run 9.98 in the quarter. The liter bikes are a tad quicker.

Thanx for the Info Steve. So if he redlined at about 100mph that sounds about like second gear to me. Maybe he completely missed his 2-3 shift and went to 4th or 5th (if thats even possible). But it sure as hell doesn't sound like he was in 5th gear to me. Do you think he would be able to keep up from about 70mph in 5th gear to my brake boosting in 3rd at 70?

its hard to say what gear he was in but if he was hitting the redline at 100mph, I'm sure that he was in 2nd gear.

I remembered when I took the bike to the strip that I was running 6.92@114mph and I was in 3rd gear and I still have plenty of rpm to go. My bike dyno at 149rwhp completely stock. The new 05 gixer 1000 dyno at 162rwhp average. If you're going from a lower speed, the bike has plenty of acceleration to out run a car but when you have a car with enough hp, it will beat a bike from 70mph+ roll.

I raced against a few single rx7 from a 70mph roll before and I could only managed 2-3 car length on them from 70-140mph. It gets kinda scary when the front end decided to come up at 130mph.

I still like riding wheelies for a few miles though.

Steve, you are one crazy *****! I can't even imagine riding on one wheel down the road for a "few" miles.

I just found out the person that said they knew the nike owner was just bsing. and just curious but how fast is a new 4fi?

200 mph? A gixxer 1000 won't even do 186. 186 indicated maybe, more realistically like 170-175 mph. Not even a busa would do over 185, unless your bike is modded of course then I'll shut up.

actually, it cuts off at around 186mph since that is when I hit the fuel cut. Both the gixer 1000 and busa were governor to 186mph. The only difference is that the busa makes 10rwhp more and 120lbs more. I have heard of stock busa with power commander and fuel cut eliminator hitting close to 195mph. besides, the guy asked when it will hit redline based on gear ratio. so i just give him the # based on the final drive in each gear. If you put the power commander in it, it can hit closer to 190mph. Go check out some of the gixer forum and you'll see that they're governor limited.

Wow, that sucks. I had an R6 before my FD and I had it pegged a few times at 165....So 400 more CC for a 20mph more top speed on a busa or gsxr-1k ..

The air resistance increases by the squared for every 5mph. Or is it 10mph?? Anyways yes, it's sad, but true it takes 400cc more motor to just go 20mph faster.

the relationship between rolling resistance, aerodynamic drag, and horsepower dictates who will win a high speed roll...light weight doesn't help much, although from a stop, assuming the rider is good, the bike wins every time

http://www.spiretech.com/%7Epk-lk/pat/road-load.htm

at higher speed, especially anything in the triple digits, aerodynamic drag and horsepower dominate the relationship

I re-post this about every month for the recurring "wow, I beat a bike, the bike should have smoked me!!" noob

The speedos are very inaccurate at speeds over 100mph... When u see that 186 on the speedo your not going that fast. 170 maybe.. and a busa stock will not go over 190 not because its govnrd BUT Because it donst have any more power to reach that speed. Busa needs about 25 more hp to the wheel before it can break 195mph..

dragging a bike is not easy. .to get 9 sec pass or even a low 10 u have to be a very VERY good rider. better then avg rider wont cut it.

Ya Ive been riding bikes for a very long time. must say even still a kill is a kill. now if that was me on that gxser 1000 I would have left you far far behind. even from 70 or 100 miles an hour. but like I said a kill is a kill so congrats.

I just got on this guys bike the other day is was a 2002 yam, r1. commander and full micron exhuast. talk about ******* *****, that bike just kept pulling and pulling and if you lean far enough forward and hti the gears just right. bam a wheelie you can hold for a long time. I did about 140 in 3rd gear so just to let you know how fast that bike was.

I also spanked a mustang that was fixed up it had a supercharger on it. but my 6 wasnt exactly stock either lol...

anyway enough of my rambling good kill
