ok, so I took my car to the drags last night for the first time and at first I was having fun beating all the hondas there. so I see an FC run and I go talk to him. This guy has and 88 S4 base model with only exhaust so he claims.

We decide to race and I'm feeling really confident, all I have is an S5 GXL with cat back exhaust and a cold air box with a k&n.

We take off ok but in second and third he whooped me hard by two car lanes. I never thought about modding my car too much but I felt so bad afterwards that now I want to do something about it now and beat him and other FC'S. so what I'm asking is what can I do other than rebuilding and porting? I really need help. Thanks.

 

The base probably a good 200-300lbs lighter, and for some reason, the S4's always have seemed to pull better for me than the S5. I wouldn't worry about it all too much.

 

well N/A. Removed all the emmission stuff if you can. Get better cultch and lighter flywheel. make your car light as you can. Remove all the unnessary. Gte tune up done on it. removet he cats so you get free flowing exhust and wired the 5th and 6th port open you have power. if that does not work. Turbo II swap

 

how can I wire the 5th and 6th ports open? what can I remove, I have a GXL. Help me please.

 

Look through the 2nd gen fourms. They have writen tutorials on how do everything. Are search through the fourm. Alot of information on this stuff.

 

if the ports are working properly then you are losing serious low end power if you wire them open. If you take off the cats there are alternative ways to get the things to open right.

any great racers loses sometimes ... so take it more has u got beated by another rx7 instead of any other kind of car ...

 

It think its more along the lines of "I wanna be the man" type of thing! Was this at the drag strip? what times were you gettin out of it?
Youre quite stock so you have plenty of stuff to upgrade...usually full exhaust will give you a nice pickup and you still manage to keep the aux ports working with the air pump(if you remove the air pump thats when you have to wire the ports open - but then again you'll need a pulley for the water pump or it'll slip).
Get a ignition and a fuel pressure regulater to counter the hotter spark...mine leaned out when i installed a jacobs...go search the 2nd gen forum! its a good idea.. you seem to be quite new to this so the more you learn the better off you are! Good luck and in the mean time keep beating up on the hondas untill you find a hatchback that runs 13s....
