not to be arogant or anything but the WRX even the STI's don't impress me much, let alone a stock one. The last STI that I raced was lightly modded (intake, exhaust, boost controller and additional fuel control ). The only time I saw him was at the stop light when it was still red. Oh and then in my mirror when he gave up and turned at the next street. But I have seen some pretty sick heavly modded ones that were damn fast.

You're trying to race an AWD ~226hp 3 year old car with a RWD >200hp 20+ year old car.
Build your car so you can go autocross it instead of trying to keep up with cars that are technologically better built and with less old parts to blow up in mid-race.
these threads are useless and a waste of bandwidth. Instead of asking stupid questions just go out there and do it. You'll either win, lose, get busted or die.
If you say it's possible you must have at least 250rwhp and I'd love to see the mod list.
so far I've seen can I beat a dohc with my NA?
can I beat an Sr20DE-T with my car?
and now this!
all within 2 weeks and that doesn't even take into consideration the threads in the KILLS section or other sections.
stick to video games. Less likely to kill someone and when you crash at 100+mph you can restart.
I don't get the whole I can/want to beat this car and this car mentality. We all have different views as to why one should build a car, but you tend to be the most dangerous, to others and to the 7s.

phoenix7-Come on you have the same attitude as my friend the owner of the wrx. you think new cars are better and will beat anything older. you guys should learn to think. for that reason im gonna fix my 7 to show him that it could. i technically talked to him and yet he doesn't belive.
and i never said in the streets just tack wise
i hate it when people just asume the bad, and asume im a newb to cars

You are quite ignorant. I have beat them off the line. My car is also heavily tuned. It all depends on how much power you have under the hood and the driver.

Look at it this way: when you get a FMIC, boost controller, fuel controller+tuning, better fuel pump and injectors and you max out the stock turbo YOU WILL CATCH UP and PROBABLY BEAT HIM. But when he gets the same SIMPLE mods like the ones I just posted where will you be???
OK, let's assume he comes and modifies his car the same as yours, he'll smoke you. You then want to show him you can STILL keep up/ BEAT him so you upgrade your turbo. BAM, you beat him. He gets all pissy and modifies HIS turbo. WHERE ARE YOU AT NOW?????
You get the flow of what I'm saying? You're playing catch up and no matter what, YOU WILL LOSE. ( and this is assuming you tune your car accordingly after every mod to ensure you're making safe HP. IF you don't your car probably won't survive)
It's not that I have no faith in MY car but with growing up comes the realization that playing "who's **** is bigger" will only make you run in circles. Realize that you have a cool car that has it's pros and cons and the WRX is the same. Each car has superior points to it and it also has flaws.
simple, no insults, no assumpotions, not **** talking. Look at it from a realistic perspective.
This guy beats WRXs and SRT4's ( the latter being the most POS cars with good motors on the planet). CAn you, Psychotic7, honestly beat an WRX or SRT-4 that has the same mods as you? Let's assume all drivers are equally good. DO you honestly think a similarly modified NEW high performance car? (and Don't try to talk **** about the use of the word HIGH PERFORMANCE please, you KNOW what I'm trying to say)

WRXs are nothing, I raced one with my GSR (I/H/E) and we were head to head. If you have a TII, you definitely have a chance of beating a WRX whether launch start or roll start. If you have an NA, I dont think you stand a chance unless you have a mean port job.

I was just curious, because he claimed his friend bought a boost controller and brought it up to 9 lbs. Seemed rather contradictory to what I was previously led to believe about the factory boost level of the car (I've driven an STi before, but not an regular WRX).

so who are these people you all race and where? I have seen the hard launches the WRX and STI guys do (i've even seen, technically HEARD, them destroy trannies and clutches) and I KNOW it will be hard for a TII to keep up. You guys must be pro status in order to beat an AWD turbo!! Either that or you should stop racing stock cars with children driving. I really don't know how you do it but a video would ge great.

EDIT: google says 14psi stock.

The only advantage of AWD is traction and better holeshot. The downside that most people don't think about is hp losses due to drivetrain "lag", and the additional friction from u-joints, cv joints, another differential, a fluid coupling, halfshafts, bearings, etc. If you were to have 2 identical cars, same engines, but one car was FWD and the other AWD, the FWD would beat it in the 1/4 mile.

This seems out of place for me to say (as I love Rotary engines) but... "Get an LS1, and destroy STIs".... Forgive me rotary gods, I didn't mean it! . From roll with decent mods yes. You do have a turbo right? If your N/A I would recommend FULL exhaust, stand alone and the Cadman S/C, and you might fair well. IMO.
On the bright side you'll prob still spend a little less money overall that your friend did on the WRX...
