Hi, my name is Brad and I am brand new to Rotory motors, have worked on plenty of other cars in my time but have decided to try something new. I recently purchased this car as a toy much to the chagrin of my girlfriend. I am hoping to learn a lot about this car and perhaps even make it nice! I am always interested in meeting new people in my area it makes it a lot easier for me to learn when someone is there to teach. I am planning on buying the matching fronts because those yellow wheels are ugly as hell. In my opinion.

 

Brad, here's hoping you're GF doesn't end up hating the car more if it starts to give you trouble! Make sure you get all of the "update maintenance" done before calling it your daily driver or the car will def make you pay the price.

What update maintenance? Are you talking about regular oil changes and timing belts and all that, or is there other stuff I should know?

 

If it was sitting around for a year, replace oil, coolant, check for any broken wire connections from harness to engine connections and also think seriously about replacing the rubber lines all around the engine if they are hard. Flush and replace the fluids in the clutch and brake systems.

That's just for a 1stgen. If there's some 2ndgen tips I don't know, I'm sure a 2ndgen guru will be along any day now to add to the list.

 

I just found something on this car that I didn't know about but most people experienced with these cars I am sure understand very well and can possibly help me out. I was looking around in the engine compartment when the car was running and realized there was what looked like a secondary throttle butterfly or at least a lever to work one. As I inspected further I realized it definitely changed the revs when I opened it up and I noticed what looked like a vacuum line connected to it. While driving this car I haven't noticed any second stage when accelerating, not sure if I should or not. If it truly is a second stage how can I check to see if it is working properly if at all?

 

If all is working right you shouldnt notice a change while driving. To check all I do is let the warm up then have some on rev it up and watch the lever, if it moves its workig
