IL RB25det Transplant in FD

Hello everyone, My name is Raz. Firstly I would like to say that I bought my FD with intentions of building a fire breathing dragon lol. I love to sound of the rotary and would still have it in my car if I knew how to work with that motor. I did try working on it with the help of my brother and a friend but after two blown motors I decided to go to a professional. The quote I got was not reasonable and I decided on a transplant. The build is coming along fine but slowly.

Welcome Raz, car looks clean and nice...I also like the rb motors but would never put any other motors in a FD other than a rotary....why not put the rb in a 240sx and keep it Nissan? Keep us posted on how its coming along.

Welcome.

A few others on this forum have done this swap. You should contact them to avoid possible issues.

Best of luck, keep us updated with a build thread!

Because there is not a Nissan that looks anything like an FD? All the 200/240sx are ugly, the s15 is the rare breed that isn't but how often do you see one state side?

This is the most recent picture I have... I actually took it just a few minutes when I got home. I decided to modify the firewall so the manual trans would fit perfectly without any cutting around the shifter but I'm going to redo it because it's off. I'm running a 35R and custom cooler which as you can see will be a v-mount setup.

This is a shot of the subframe and mount setup(bushings are not on yet). I'm actually trying my best to make everything solid and not take any shortcuts that may lead to me stranded on the roadside lol

Like i said, I love the rotary and tried to work with it but the quote I got was 17k for a 35R kit and stock rebuild. Definitely not worth it in my book so that's when I decided on the RB.

Great choice, I'll be doing a Nissan engine swap into my shell once I get it. Although I'm going for an SR20 swap as I know more about that engine than the RBs.

Man, you'll have a lot more room to work with than me lol I've had my share of headaches trying to make this fit properly.

Hopefully I can achieve 600 with this turbo. The block is fully built so I can run high boost on C16

Yea one of the benefits of going for the SR over the RB. Plus hopefully I'll still have space to run a V Mount intercooler and rad setup in front of the engine the same as you.

If I could v-mount with an RB, you can definitely get it done with an SR.

I was planning on doing an LS1 swap before the RB. If you look at the subframe, you'll see that it's the hinson subframe that I modified.

I bet it is. I can't wait to get this running for summer

Hopefully I can get it done by spring time so I'll have some fun with it. I'm definitely not selling this car but I guess it would be cool to see what people would pay for it.

Yea since seeing yours it has given me faith that it can be done, originally I wasn't sure how much space I'd have as without getting an SR in place in the engine bay it's abit hard to judge.
