Noob Alert

Hola, Im 100% new to rotaries just bought a rx7 10/83 Gs model, worked on basically everything else execpt a rotary and just love how the 1st gens look. plans are take off a/c and cruise control, lsd ,electric fan and new radiator, header , Manifold and carb not sure what to go with on that maybe you guys have some opnions, Id like to go pretty radical, i hear all about bridgeport/streetport and a carb swap, i have a couple quick questions about the streetport/bridgeport when you want a bridgeported motor is it the manifold? is that all thats done? and say if i do a carb swap im hearing about having to mix my oil. That really dosent bother me atall.just like to know if its true Just the basics when it comes to manifold/carb swaps would be fantastic, i hear webber, mikuni holley ,sterling, . Thanks Ill try to have some pictures posted tomorrow and a little build as i go along . Thanks and i hope to hear some good info and carb and manifolds

Eh, yer looking at the high end of things folks do to 12A rotaries. You need to start with your exhaust system. The bridgeport mod isn't a bolt-on affair, it refers to a special porting procedure done to the engine's internals itself. IOW, the engine has to come completely apart to get a bridgeport job done. Best to work with exhaust, then suspension upgrades before you dive into the engine itself, IMHO.

Ok thats what i was wondering if it was bolt on ordeal, what about streetport? and stock port, same thing motor has to come apart? Obviously exhaust and the minor things will be first. im just trying to figure out a build here. Also i found a mikuni dual side draft carb and manifold, anybody have any luck or know anything about these?

also have people had better results using the stock shroud or just using the fan without a shroud. Im just a very fast worker, i like to get my toys and tear em apart and get em back together as quick as possible so i can play, i hope to have "everything" ordered by the first weekend in june

Stock port is just the engine as it came from the factory. Streetport is the equivalent of a simple bowl blend in a cylinder head from a piston engine, except, of course, that there is no cylinder head on a rotary. So, yes, the engine has to come apart for a streetport job. For the rest of the questions, go ahead and C&P your post in a new thread in the New Member Technical board where it's more appropriate.

..and welcome aboard!!
