Newb to the RX 7 world
Newb to the RX 7 world
Hello all,
Name's Abe, originally from Anahiem, CA but been living in Columbia, MO for the past 6 yrs. Until Saturday (2/7/2009), I was out of the car since summer of '08. My car back then was a 376 FWHP '95 Eclipse RS (yep, the 420A engine model). I completely built and tuned myself, so I would say I am an ok builder/tuner as long as I do my research. Right now, I know very little about these cars and have a general understanding of the motor and how they work. However I plan to change that and one day know them like the scars on my body. So, how did I get back in... Well, since I was a little boy I fell in love with how the FC's and FD's looked and while searching the web, I found my "rust bucket" (as my fiancée calls it). It's a 1990 RX 7 GXL 5 spd with ~189,xxx miles. Overall the body is in decent shape for it's age (I think). The motor seems to pull fairly strong and the trans shifts smoothly. I have great plans for this car, however there will not be any big changes/mods for at least a yr... I need to do my research because I do not like doing things twice. Like they say, do it right the first time and save yourself some money/time/headache. I look forward to expanding my wisdom and hopefully being a great contributor to this site one day.

welcome. glad you made the switch to the rx-7. Just remember it's not a boinger so don't expect to build your seven to have similar amount of hp as your eclipse with much ease. Those engines are little more fragile and require lot more tlc and careful tuning. Like you said do your research if you have certain upgrades in mind. There's much info here!
Thanks for the welcome. I'm not looking for huge HP numbers on this car, unless I can manage to do the 26B swap... But I don't see that in the near future. For now, I'm aiming for 200 WHP, however i'm not sure if thats possible on the NA 13B, so anything close to that would be great.
Well, if 200 WHP is about the limit for the NA 13B, I guess, I'm go to have to do the 13B-RE (Cosmo) swap. I'd say I can get it done and running with ~300 WHP within the next 2 yrs...
