New member from UK with a Type-RS RX7

Hi all

I've been reading this forum for a while now and thought I should get signed up!

Here's my car, a JDM '96 Type RS

Name: fdcb3618-a008-470e-8b31-efe9b6efeff3_zps1718e2c6.jpg

The RS model came with Bilsteins, 17" wheels, 4.44 final drive and larger brakes.

It's totally standard at the moment, aside from an RE-Amemiya gear ****. I've got a few plans for it but first it wants some bodywork and the brakes will need replacing soon. The larger 314mm Type-RS discs are stupidly expensive

I've already bought and ARC intercooler and airbox, and plan to pick up a racing beat exhaust, possibly a downpipe and an Adaptronic ECU.

Body wise I'd like some Feed side steps, and either a '99 wing, or a Mazdaspeed GTC.

Anyway, hope you like

Cheers

Marf

Cheers dude and no worries. The wing is a long term plan, other more pressing stuff needs doing first!

Thanks, have been reading that forum with interest, and watching the vids.

Definitely looks preferable to a Power FC!

So lets see. Bit of an update

Unfortunately no more track days since the pics above, been busy spending on the car itself for the last 12 months.

Most stuff I've sourced from Yahoo Japan Auctions and the UK FD forums

Drivetrain

I've fitted some replacement discs and pads, roughly £650 landed from Japan. Shipping was the killer, £220 or so.

These are Dixcel OE replacements which have been heat treated by a company in Japan, coupled with some Dixcel pads

BRAKE PAD^ES typebDIXCEL

Pedal feel so far is greatly improved, and there's way more braking force in the system than I've been able to exploit on the road so far. Looking forward to some track time on them.

Interior

Coming from an MR2 Turbo which had one of the best OEM seats I've used, I had to replace the drivers seat for something a little more supportive

Picked up a period Greddy gauge with green backlight to match the OEM clocks, had bit of a bidding war on this one. Yahoo Japan isn't like eBay, when you bid in the last few minutes on YJ, the auction auto extends 5 minutes. No sniping!!

It was in lovely condition, but I managed to scuff the paint on the outer rim during installation like a tard

Video ---->

Under the hood

Picked up an ARC Airbox, and an ARC OE replacement SMIC.

Before I got round to fitting these, an ARC Super SMIC popped up so I snaffled it and resold the smaller ARC cooler

The orange pipes were awful, and wouldnt hold pressure, so I picked up some new black silicon items

I plan to replace the crappy jubilee clips with some wider t-bolt clamps, and also get the IC properly ducted

Stuff yet to be fitted

RE-Amemiya boost gauge mount and Twinpower

I plan to refurb the boost gauge rim at the same time that I fit it into the RE-A mount. The mount itself is a little scuffed up so could do with a light sand and spray

I've also picked up a Power FC and Datalogit, as well as a FEED fuel tank baffle.

Wideband, koyo and clutch next.

Bodywork after that.
