ON New Member looking for some insight!

Hey, long time rotary lover here. I have been debating on pulling the trigger on an FD. Though ALL if not Majority of my friends are kind of pushing me away from going the rotary route.( they are recommending a s2k) I tried to find some rotary shops where I live (ottawa, canada) to find theirs not much here. I am from near oshawa originally and have seen can-saf at Mosport, but would be kind of out of the way to drive back home for something that went wrong. Since there is no rotary shops near me in Ottawa, I would have to do majority of the work myself. Which i am fine with, since I am fairly mechanically inclined, but obviously would have a learning curve to get over... I have a DD driver and am looking for a car to be able to drive in the warmer months. Its been a dream of mine to own a RX7, but i hear so many negatives about them, and am not sure if its operator/owner error/ proper maintenance not being done or more engine reliability problems?

Thanks!!!

Welcome! I am newer also. I find that you need to do your homework first and don't shortcut you can find something fairly reliable. very important to get compression numbers before buying. You need to have the temperament for these cars. willing to check oil / premix / plugs etc etc. This is not a set it and forget it car. Also, having friends that have rotaries really helps. if you don't ..... get new friends. haha good luck..
