New guy in Virginia Beach
I've been a longtime admirer of the rx-7, my Dad's owned a few going all the way back to '85. So, after coming to my senses I sold my SRT-4 project and picked up a '91 n/a. I got the rex at a great price from a cool dude (Niburu here on the forums) and the car seems to be in great condition. I've been lurking on the forums off and on over the past year, but once I made the decision to get rid of the SRT I signed up on here to get as much info as could. I've been pretty handy with the search function thus far, so I won't have any stupid questions for you guys. Besides, I'm not exactly new to rotaries. Nevertheless, I'll be the first to admit that I have a LOT to learn about rotaries, and UNlearn regarding how I've built cars up until this point. I'm very interested in getting in touch with the local rx-7 and rotary owners (and FC owners in particular) to pick you guys' brains on the direction I'm trying to take my car in. Everybody loves pics, so I'll throw a couple up;
The SRT just before it sold
And its far more esteemed replacement
My short-term plans are to get the car cleaned up and drive it around as-is to get familiar with the new chassis, then start throwing some simple mods at it so I can have an enjoyable weekender. First round of upgrades will be wheels and suspension, which I pretty much have covered. Unfortunately, my coils won't be in until August, which means my wheels won't be able to be installed until August .
Wheel preview
So this is my official introduction. I'm happy to be a new member of the rx-7 community, and I look forward to meeting you local Hampton Roads guys.

Thanks! Nice little project you got there too. I don't think I've seen a single one of the early Rx's since I've been here in VA, and I certainly wouldn't expect to see an Rx-4. Info?

I want updates on what happens to that car.
You should be able to get a good price for the KYB/AGX struts and Tein Springs once you get the coilovers on.

I put a clutch fan back on. And you certainly could've made quite a bit more parting it out, but I'm glad you didn't. And yes, it was incredibly hot down here. Good thing the AC works

Well, when you finally do sell the current spring/strut setup, let me know...What were your plans as far as the spring/strut setup? I wish I could have bought that car from Dave... But I just couldnt get the money together and justify having 5 FC's at one time(well, justify it to the lady of the house)... I am glad you are enjoying it and you should come up to our starbuck's meet sometime before the summer is over and hang out... And pick our brains of rotary knowledge....

Thanks! Since you've already got such a nice collection of FC's, its only fair that I got this one. The springs and struts are gonna get sold/traded once the coilovers come in, so I'll definitely pm you first before putting 'em up for sale. And I'm totally down for a trip up there to meet you guys at this Starbucks everyone seems to frequent.

Thanks. I can already tell I'm gonna like the Rx-7 community here in VA a lot more than the SRT-4 community here. Nice car you got there, rotordad. Looks a lot like the cars my Dad and his buddy's used to run back in the day. I know you catch **** for it not being "Hellallush", but it still looks badass. It actually reminds me of my Dad's wide-body days with his first-gen...

Awesome bro,
I'm new to the VA Beach/Hampton Roads area as well... we'll have to organize a little get together joy ride lunch. I'm still getting a feel for my First Gen RX-7...
DC, by the way... very nice to meet ya!

Thanks!!
Welcome! From what I've seen, there are a lot more rotary owners 'round these parts than I previously thought. I'm definitely down to come out to a local meet whenever one's scheduled. I know there's a local 7 owner on here who's looking to organize a meet. His name on here's jaila05. He's got a pretty awesome 2nd gen himself.
