TX New Guy here

Hey,

Name: David
Location: Dallas, TX

I am planning on purchasing a FD in the next few months or so. Basically looking for insight on what I should be looking out for, such as mechanical problems that I should be weary of when inspecting an Rx-7. The only thing I know to spot for is smoke from the exhaust and hoses.

Thanks,
David

How many posts do you need to get into the south section discussions?

Hey, David! I'm looking for an RX7, too. Where have you been looking? And, are you as cheap as I am?

Phil,

I've been looking everywhere in a 200 mile radius. I've looked at everything from Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Basically I am looking for a stock FD so that I can build and keep from scratch and test out some ideas my friends and I have been coming up.

Right now is a good time for me to be searching since I have everything paid off. Everything from my house to my car. My goal right now is to wait 2 or 3 more months so that I will have enough to pay for an FD out of pocket with some "just in case" money in my account.

Rough times are ahead of us due to the market going down and all but I believe it only affects people who have major loans or people who heavily rely on credit cards to survive.

Good luck to you though Phil.
If you want I can help you look for an FC or FD while I am searching for mine.

I've been casting a wide net, too. I've found a couple, but I jumped the gun a bit on making contacts. Gotta sell my truck first, you know. I'll be looking for a first or second gen, a cheap one, running or not. The crappier it looks the better. That way anything you change looks like a vast improvment...

Welcome, guys.

As far as finding an FD, the only advise I have for you is be patient. Another thing to keep in mind is also where you want to start. You can get one relatively cheap considering the condition. I bought mine in Houston without a motor and poor paint for $3250.

Sometimes you have to just wait around until you find a good deal.

Good luck, and again, welcome! It's always good to have more Texas rotary nuts.
