new to the forum and rx7s

hello everyone. My name is Derek. As you can see, I am new to the forum and rx7s. I currently own a 240sx but want to stop drifting the cliche drift car and start something new and different which is why I want a fc or fb. I don't know to much about rotary motors, and was wondering how hard are they to work on and how is it learning them. Also where can you get parts for these cars both suspension and motor. Any input would be very appreciated also which one anyone else prefers for drifting fb or fc. thank you!

Welcome Derek. I'm Ron. Tell me about it. I had my share of S-chassis S13 hatchback and Kouki S14 for autocross and drifting. I'm getting a FD, but still keeping my options open if I spot a FC.

There's a lot of info to absorb on this forum.

Yeh I'm so confused if I shcould stay in the s chasis or try out something different with a fc, but I don't know how the aftermarket is or how rotary motors are. They do scare me a little.

I'm getting into drifting my fb, it's a bit underpowered to get the rear tires to break loose unless you already have some forward momentum. I'd advise the fc, I've seen some people drift them very well, better than the 86, which is what I see drifting most.

PS I have racing beat springs and illuminas in the front and Gas-a-justs in the back, it works well for me.

Same here bro. I'm reading a lot of the technical know-how and DIYs threads before I start posting on the forum's other sections and just mainly posting on the intro threads, but my buddy had also inquired a FC after being into so many S-chassis and he told me that because the seats are closer to the rear axle of the FC its more reactive than the 240sx fastback/180sx/RPS13 so you would feel the "throw" or "toss" quicker. So you got to be anticipating to counter steer sooner. The aftermarket parts are out there it all depends on what you want to mod first. Power By Max will be releasing a complete adjustable suspension arms/links and other chassis goodies in the very near future and they already have the FC coiovers available. 326 Power will be doing the same thing, but not as soon as Power By Max. I would start sourcing a legit shop that specializes in rotary motors if you are like me that doesn't have all the tools.

I do what I can and learn so I'm pretty good with suspension, chassis bracing, brakes, and transmission work...after that I'd need advice and other tools.

Pull the trigger and get your FC or FD up. Keep Drifting Fun....and autocross....got to love autocross.
