FL My first car ('94 FD3S)

I'd like to introduce myself to the club. My name is Bailey and today my dad and I picked up my 1994 FD3S from a family friend in North Carolina! She had owned the car since new, so I am its second owner. About 5 years ago, the car stopped running well, so she parked it in her driveway and it hadn't moved until today. She knew I was a car enthusiast so she encouraged me and my dad to take the car off of her hands and to take on our own project. It is actually my first car... I'm very lucky!!
The condition of the car is not actually as bad as expected. The paint is faded in areas, the battery is dead, the brakes don't seem to function and we assume the engine is not going to turn (the car has 200k miles, she drove it hard). Other than that, the car is in great shape! Interior only has one obvious blemish (tear in the seat). So after a new battery, we have to decide what to do with the engine. Any advice is appreciated! Rebuild or swap? New turbos? I still need to read up.. Thanks and I'm excited to be an RX-7 owner!

Bailey

My $.02, rebuild motor and upgrade all components that are known weaknesses. Do a suspension overhaul and upgrade the brakes.
Good luck

Welcome and congrats on an awesome first car. Maybe having to do a little bit of work to get it back into a drivable state will make you appreciate it more and take care of it. Sounds like a good opportunity for bonding with your father. Good luck.

Thanks guys! I'll post some photos soon. We put a new battery in, most electrical things seem to work still. One window won't roll down, and I think a few lights on the dash are out, nbd! Thinking about buying a used engine imported from Japan, any thoughts?
