So insanely jealous of your first car being an FD - I would definitely look into a complete rebuild or a swap if you are in the market for something like that.

ALSO its up to you
the 93-95 engine is Almost a direct swap save a few re pinning of the harness ,
if you get the 96-98 motor you need to take the wiring harness from you car and the vacume hose rats nest , all the solenoids and swap that onto the new block ,
if the enginee's components are good , a rebuild is about 2k. more if components are poop .
But after 200k miles.. I 'm honestly impressed ... it got that far.
98-99 motor you will have the same issue as the 96-98 and they go for quite a bit more . because some come with upgraded turbos .

Today my FD was picked up and taken to a great transmission shop where they will be swapping the engine for us. My dad and I planned on doing it ourselves to keep costs down, but the deal that they offered was too good not to take! They will also be finding a hopefully new, or like new engine for the swap. Posting pictures this week when I have a few minutes.

you sink 20K into a car and then try to sell it and the most anyone wants to pay is 12.
Investment?.I can sell you a NEW Parachute..used ONCE never Opened..
My first car was a Bicycle.THAT was a good investment..the wheels on the bike went round and round!..lol!

Well 3 months later its almost out of the shop haha. We ordered a reman'd engine along with rebuilt turbos, all new hoses, resealed trans, reworked clutch, and entire engine bay cleaned. Hoping she will be back home by the new year. Once she is we'll be doing a lot of stuff ourselves, first thing is brakes.

Yeah everything done in the shop has been oem parts, they also just replaced the drive shaft because the U-joints were bad. Not sure if oem brakes are the way to go or something aftermarket? Time to read about that one! Haha

Wow, what a first car! There are a couple tricks you could try to get it to turn over first if your planning on rebuilding it anyway (search the forum). It would be nice to see if you could get it running before you go taking everything apart.
