When it's our of the shop, where should I post my list of things done to it? Should that be the start of my build thread? Or should I even make a build thread? Thanks

Just my 2c, we see allot of used JDM engines here in Trinidad and you can either find a diamond in the rough or real lemon. with a rebuilt engine you have some peace of mind (and warranty depending on who you get to rebuild it) knowing its fresh, got as good parts as you put in and you can also look at porting, better seals for more boost etc. (sometimes more or less than a JDM stock motor)
Man are you lucky have a FD for your first car and more so a DAD that will buy you one. (If i were him, I would put a rev limiter set at 4k haha)
Enjoy your car & time with dad get her running

Haha funny thing is my dad didnt actually buy it! We got it for free (very fortunate) and most of the money paying for the repairs is coming from me. Working 3 jobs to get this thing on the road lol. I do agree I probably need a rev limiter, just bought myself a radar detector though that substitutes right? haha
Great news! It's running and will come back from the shop next week! I will upload some pics asap. Thanks everybody

Its finally home! Came home Friday. Still a whole list of small things that we need to do to get it to decent condition. One headlight cover is broken off, both front fender linings are missing/broken. Passenger window won't go down, roof won't go back, gas cap doesn't pop out on its own. Not complaining, its running smooth and those are all things I and my dad will fix.

Drove it around Friday and Saturday in the neighborhood and to the gas station. It needs tires badly. Though I don't want to spend $ on tires yet, since I want to get new wheels, I think I will buy some used tires to get by with for the time being. Also, last night I parked it in the garage and noticed that coolant was leaking. This worried me for a second but the temp gauge read cool so that's good. I think the pipe going from the cap to the reservoir is not completely sealed. Or maybe the shop put too much coolant in and it overflowed? Will figure it out when my dad gets back in town from work.

Congrats
And when it's all put together and running don't be hasty to floor it...fd can be lots of fun but you need to know what you doing. Love it when the back slides out

Hahaha I can say that I have suffered the "first car pains". I've dealt with driving the family mini van and '96 subaru outback for the past year and a half. But yes I am very lucky to have the fd! Also moosahb, I must admit I have already slid out the back.. Probably not the best thing to do on the first day driving it. It's so much better than I expected, there is always a grin on my face when I'm behind the wheel
