Name's Matt and I've got an 85 RX7 w/ a 5.0/T5 swapped in it.

Ran a 12.95 @ 106 first time out untuned w/ a open diff aka one wheel peel.

Weighs in at 2410 w/ 15 gallons in the tank.

White w/ gray interior(swapped from red - yuck)

New wheels now, some 15x8 mustang wheels, and rolled the fenders to stuff a 26x10.5x15 slick under it for some better times.

Searching for what to do about my rear end problems... I blew the stock one and am not sure what route I want to go...

Just saying hey and looking forward to gaining some knowledge here...

Matt, just joined the site myself. Looks interesting how'd you get the 15 X 8's to bolt on. I've got an 86 GT convertible I've been working on forever, keep running out of money. I have the GT wheels still and thought they'd look good on my 79 SA, but the stock Ford alloys are 4x108mm and the 79 SA has 4x110mm. Wondering how you solved the problem.

I take that back about the mustang 4 bolt pattern. The site I got my info from was obviously in error as I found out with a little more research, dooh. Have you tried looking up the Granny Speed Shop site. They have a bolt in 8.8 housing/unit, which would be nice for those of us with parts. This would solve your problems especially with the stud girdle and other mods available. Expensive though. There are some other pretty good solutions in the first gen forum archives using Toyota truck rearends.

 

I used 'wobble bolts', available online for about $50 in order to go from the 4x110 to the 4x108 mustang wheels. Have worked fine for me.

Thanks for the welcomes...I plan on doing more work over the winter and coming out strong next spring. 8.8 is most likely in my future as I'm not liking my prospect of blowing through factory rear ends.

Have you thought about a 9" rear end? When I was into 4wheelin, I picked up an old 9" out of a 70's era Ranger for $100 and built it up for my Jeep. That axle is bulletproof expecially with companies like Currie and Moser.
