Welcome to RX7club Tony!

Some other good sites to browse are:

http://www.nopistons.com/forums/home.html
teamfc3s.org

http://fsae.com/6/ubb.x
http://forums.clubsi.com/
http://www.supraforums.com/forum/index.php

I know the last 3 are not rx7 specific but they are great sources of basic automotive information. Especially FSAE...A lot of topics such as "suspension" and "brakes" are universal.

welcome. dont fall in the world of rx7s. its fun at first but then it starts to pull your wallet out and drains everything away.

but at least your starting young. dont let these old farts on here discourage you and some can be complete ********...just dont think anything of it.

i got my first 7 when i was 16 and still have it. needless to say its not running right now but hopefully end of the month it will be.

I Got my 1st FB when I was 15.
Made too many mistakes to count.
Like in life: do things right the first time, don't skimp on safety, check check double check and you get what you pay for.

Gee thanks for the warm welcome guys, Most appreciated

And to the comment above me, I still do all the things kids my age do, But I've decided to take up Rotary experience as a voluntary hobby. Really interesting I think.

I'm actually saving up for a Series 5 FC right now. Haven't got very far :P
Although I still have to learn how to drive manual. FC's do come in auto right?
But nevertheless manuals are much more fun. Might go off and practice on arcade machines later :P

But again, Cheers guys

lol @ practice on arcade machines.
but seriously, don't go for the auto... unless you find one going very cheap because you WILL be doing the 5spd conversion in the future.

I got my first T2 when I was 14. I'll be 17 in a week and a half. I've had my car completely stripped to the shell before, was a good learning experience. I've had 2 S4 T2's since then, with my current one I've had for a year now. It's getting a 13b RE, bridge port, and GT42R, all courteous of yours truly.

7's are my life, and have been for the past couple years. This website is very useful, same with FSM's. Good luck with one, they're amazing cars.

after much debate and seeing several cars, I've determined that Mazda must had offered a special racing version of all 3 generations of RX-7s. These special version usually have a Chevy V8 to compete in "push rod engines only" series. Mazda has not developed a push-rod V8 that could withstand the harsh life of the track, so they worked with chevy to put push rods with the amazing suspension that is natural to the RX-7 line. I can only assume this cooperation lasted until a few years before Ford's acquisition of Mazda.

oh, you must be talking about that version that costs about three times more than the normal turbo model, and is rarely any faster.

^ i never could find how much these versions cost. And from what i've seen, they were hoping to match turbo model performance. What happend to them after that was up to the individual race teams.

IIRCC it was 3x the cost of a TII for 3x the reliability and 3x the torque.

OMG, GET THEE TO AN N/A!!

If your planning on fixing the car yourself and your just starting out as a mechanic, I would get an N/A 7 first and then buy a turboed 7 later, hopefully an FD!

I got myself an FD and have no mechanical skills. To sub for my lack of skills, I pay someone else to do it!

Have fun man, buying my 7 was the best purchase I have ever made.

Welcome to rx7club! It is nice to see someone willing to learn so young. I grew up wrenching on cars with my dad but never touched a rotary til I was in my mid 20's. The rotary is so much fun but a bit expensive to fix/find parts when it breaks. At least where you live it was around until 2002...

Definately do a LOT of reading and thread surfing on here and the other links posted above. Soak up as much as your little brain can handle.
