Bring it out to one of our driving schools where you can run off the track and not hit anything!

unless u already have the engine, transmission and everything else u need to put the car together i suggest sticking with the rotory engine, because if u compare the SR20 and a 13B of the same year the SR20 is actualy weaker.

Heres an example:
1999-2002 Nissan silva S15 with a SR20 has 245hp with 202lbft of torque
1999-2002 mazda rx-7 with a 13B twin turbo has 276hp with 231lbft of torque

i dont know how hard it will be to put the SR20 in the car but the 13B will almost bolt in place depending on the year(A T2 engine will bolt right in, A twin turbo will need more work but not much) but you will need to change out your drive train to the T2(transmission, drive shaft, 3rd member) cuz the extra power will eventualy tear up the N/A drive train.

Heres the links that i used to compare the engines
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_RX-7

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_SR20DET

I'm not trying to bust ur *****, i just think that RX-7s should have rotory engines lol
but its your car have fun with it and GL with your build

Our next school will be in October or November at the Streets of Willow, or a new, secret location in SoCal. Go to www.aroschpd.org/Comp_MailList.html and get on our mailing list.

Several of us with 2nd gen RX7's will be racing at Laguna Seca June 24-25. Cheap weekend at only $430 for that track, which is cheap for them.

CA YAY!!! mirrors

I just got a pair of RE Amemiya side mirrors from 89s5fc3s

None of the holes on the mirrors lined up with the mounting holes on the car so i improvised, i used the mounting plate from my old mirrors

after removing the mirrors I pulled off the rubber seal so I could get to the screws that held on the mounting plate

This mounting plate was the only thing i needed from the old mirrors so I discarded the rest

Next i had to remove a metal plate from inside the Amemiya mirrors,to do that i needed to grind off some rivits that held it in place

In order to insure that the Amemiya mirrors would line up correctly with the FC mounting plate I clamped them in position and trace the cut out from inside the door where the oval hole was for the manual adjusting lever, then i cut it out and test fitted the FC plate

I then had to remove the rest of the rivits that i had ground off earlier and then cut off the center piece of metal becouse I couldn't fit it in the RE mirrors with out bending the RE plate

In order to join the two plates i simply drilled a hole in the FC plate and used a screw to hold them together

Heres how they look on my ride

The mirrors wobble cuz i had to cut that center piece of metal, but I'll be fixing that before the weekends over. So now my ride has spiffy new side mirrors and another color(sigh.........as if it didnt have enough already)

Just finished the mirrors, i had to make a new center piece to eliminate the wobble

I used some aluminum flat stock i got from home depot, the whole assembly slides right into the Amemiya housing
