Just dropping a line to say hi, i've been a member for some time now but this is my first post(i dont realy do the forum thing to much)

My name is Maxx(yes my parents did put two Xs in my name) and i bought my second gen RX-7 4years ago for $2000, best day EVER!! I had always wanted to get one since my budy let me drive his turbo II many many years ago and i finally got my own(tho it wasnt a turbo II)
i was in car bliss, happy as a clam, for about a week.........then the clouds came and pissed on my parade. The car would start but wouldnt run for long, so what did i do? did i call the former owners demanding my money back? did i try to resell that PoS that i just got? HELL NO! i plunked down the cash to get it fixed. new injectors, fuel lines, spark plugs, radiator, hoses after it was said and done it was another $2000, but it ran like new and i was in happy land again. There i was enjoying my ride once again for about 1year and guess what.......yup those clouds came back and flooded my parade this time. I blew the seals on the cooling jacket letting water in the combustion chamber(fun....) the estimate from shops in my area were all the same $3000-$6000 to break down, replace and rebuild the motor.(the motor had 166,000 miles on it if you were wondering) Im not a man of much means (and living in Cali doesnt help) so my poor ride sat for a year befor i could pony up the cash to get it running again, got a rebuilt 13B for $3000 installed. my buddies were amazed that i spent $5000 just to keep it running and kept telling me to just sell it, my respnce the that was simple. NO F'ING WAY!! Its just too much fun to drive.
my ride has been operating smoothly for just over 2years now and i just had a body kit put on and looking for a turbo II hood for it even tho its a N/A tuned motor(loved the way it looked on my friends car when i drove it) hit me up if u have one for sale. my next upgrade is new air intake/exhaust system
Well i guess ive ranted long enough I'll see you on the road

Drive Hard
Maxx

got pics of my ride but need a data cable to transfer them to my pc

CA cup holder pics and plans

heres some pics and plans for the cup holder

things to keep an eye out for:
1) make sure to measure your arm rest for proper fit(mine is a stock arm rest, but i dont know if there are diferent sizes as the years progress 86-91FC or u have an aftermarket rest)
2) the feet are there to let any spill from filling up the holes where your drink is and gettin all over the place
3) the one degree bevel lets you press the holder all the way down without a hassel(it seems the inside of stock arm rests get smaller as they go down) while the 1/2 inch flat lip gives you a nice press fit all the way around
4) suggest useing a species of wood that holds up to the outdoors(mine is made of teak)
5) dont forget to put some kind of finish on it, untreated wood will split and crack(there are inexpensive sealers at your local home depot/lowes)
6) the cup holder should sit firmly in the arm rest without any problem or need to be attached
7) put the feet on befor you bevel the body, that way its the same size all the way around
8) measure twice, cut once(just some carpenter advice)

hope this helps and GL on your cup holders

CA BitterSweet

THE SWEET:
I just got my TII aluminum hood (thnx BudgetDrift7) here it is on my ride

THE BITTER:
i spun out taking the offramp F'ing up my bodykit

i did a 180, im was supposed to be going up the offramp

there was no real damage to the car, but i need to get a new front bumper and side skirt. Was hoppin to paint it once the hood was on, but looks like thats on hold and my ride will remain a medly of colors for some time

Hey bud, I'm in so cal in the same boat as you, plan on keeping it NA, mines an 88 w/ bad coolant seals. I just started tearing the car down. We'll see where it goes .

As for the body kit, well, we dont own these cars to go slow. Give you props. Drive it like its meant to be driven. At least you hadn't painted the bumper yet

I'm sure the same will happen to me at some point lol

ya it coulda been alot worse, but this is only a minor setback to my build. like you said we get these cars to drive, not to cruise in or else we would be riding around in hybrids and SUVs

guess i'll concentrate on the 5lug conversion now, maybe better brakes and wheels will help me not spin out XD

CA Finally done

its been awhile since i last posted(like 2years, lol......) but i finaly got everything together to do the 5-lug wheel and complete suspention overhaul, heres some pics

Heres a rundown on the parts;

Tokico illumina shocks/struts
Re-used Racing Beat springs
Power Slot rotors
Hawk HPS brake pads
steel-braded brake lines
Prothane polyurithane bushings
Racing Beat sway bars, front/rear
rear strut bar
5Zigen FNO1R-C rims; 17X8 w/35 offset
Yokohama S-Drive tires 225/45
Re-built T2 brake calipers front/rear
replaced all worn out parts, outer tie rod ends, strut mounts, ect, ect.

It handles great, can't wait to start on the next prodject. haven't decided whats next, drivetrain or intake/exaust systems. let me know what you think and toss me some suggestions if you got some

till next time, take care all

The next step

I've decided to to drop a FD twin turbo in my ride instead of just a drivetrain upgrade, so now i'll have to start piecing together a T2 drivetrain to handle the new engine.

Looks like the build is going good so far. Keep at it and don't let a little cosmetic damage get you down!
