Gen1 racecar is Bucket List, based in fiery Northern CA

Greetings Gearheads and Rotary Club Alumni, My friends had RX7s in the 80s when I ran a successful motorcycle road racing shop, and I marveled at the RX7's handling, balance and endless rev motor. I always wanted a RX7 but had too many cycles in the garage and a Mustang GT 5.0 manual and truck provided my 4 wheel fun, as a former Ford mechanic in S.F. I was top of my class in advanced Auto technology and always loved cars but dirt bikes and road race motorcycles were cheaper and I was young (less concerned with risks). Now, in 2109> I have a bad back due to car accident where the tourist hit me head on and a few lingering issues from motorcycle induced injuries. So at 60, I decided I wanted to get back into the thrill of racing as a Bucket List goal and fulfill owning my own RX7, so I bought a Gen 1 racecar with podium success in Endurance road racing and it came with a spare car roller, and spares last year! But sadly, I am too tall to fit in the 6 pt AutoPower roll cage equiped car even after dropping the seat floor two plus inches on its 15" tires! So have had to build new roll cage and then I had a dirt bike foot injury and now, again have set backs from the recent wind and firestorms, last year a 80 ft tree totalled my Volvo S40, this Sunday a 40 ft branch sheared off and impaled my roof taking my power jack out, so lots of setbacks but the desire to further ahead is strong. I also plan to retire from 37 years of Aerospace Engineering work, previously a welder and have helped SAE competitors at Cornell and Santa Clara University, so plenty of experience just hoping my hands, body and mind hold out for a few years of myself racing.( I raced motorcycles amatuer and Pro but not near as long as I built, tuned engines, chassis and bikes for others and ran Pro race Teams).

Car racing safety and some of the technology has increased since I have been away (I was a consultant for Red Line Oil for 9 years in 80s and late 90s) and was lucky to get to know and see a lot of great race programs and cars.
I am here to learn from you all, share and enjoy the passion for this great car! Thanks for your time. Cliff

Thanks for the warm welcome! It's been a hard week and just now getting power back on. I appreciate the kind words and looking forward to hearing from those that know these cars so we'll.

Here is a photo of the 40 ft branch that sheared off and impaled my roof and broke the electrical power jack from last Sunday!

Thx Cliff
