My RX-7 LIFE. 11 years and counting
Hello all.
My name is Keith. I know I should have been part of this website for a long time now but for some reason I never signed up.
I'll keep only rx-7 related.
I'm 27, the first I bought @ 16 years old was an 85 GSL. My grandma offered me an escort at the time but why would I want that? I was already addicted because my uncle was racing Rx7's in the SCCA so I knew what I wanted before I could even drive.
Then soon after I bought a street/race-car from someone at the track and finished it for pro-7 and started racing at 18 years old. Road racing at Laguna Seca, Sears point & Thunder hill. I spent every dollar I ever earned on that car. By now I sold my first car to buy a jeep to tow my racecar. I wanted another street rx7 but my parents said no.. So... I did what any rotary blooded individual would do. I convinced my sister she needed me to buy her an RX7. So I found a GXL for 200 bucks and drove it to the ground. Another example of a great reliable sports car. I didn't devote much to the 2nd gen because all my money was going to racing.
Sadly I put my race car in the wall in turn 10 @ laguna seca. I was devastated a bit but I was motivated to keep going so I built another one (a 79) from the ground up in a few months and was racing the next season. I still have that car but sadly I have since bought a home and become tied to a mortgage that kills my inner kid, so racing is on the back burner "for now" anyone looking to get into racing on a budget.....
After I bought my house I would still look up rx-7's and parts and everything under the son rotary related. I ended up finding 2 3rd gen's I liked and have been working on those as projects to keep me occupied and in tune with my mechanical self.
So long story short I have owned
3 1st gen Rx-7's
1 2nd gen Rx-7
2 3rd gen Rx-7's
I do want to explain I am not a tuner or a street racer. I don't like steet racers and most I've have met are idiots. It's not a scene where you will find anybody worth imitating or learning from. Driving a car is not based on how fast you can press the gas pedal to the floor.... If you want to know how to or become a good driver. GO TO A RACETRACK and find out what you are really capable of. DON'T FAKE IT ON THE STREETS. Don't try and learn from other retards mistakes.
I think it is time I Join the club.. Looking forward to talking cars with all of you!

INSPIRING... I'm actually 16 and I used to live in Cali. My father Carl Byck raced in TTU at thunder hill and sears point when I was younger. What a beautiful thing rotary's are. Anyway I was inspired and introduced to Rx7's at a young age and never list interest. My hope is to get a TII for my first car! I am as new to this forum as you. WELCOME!
