New to car without pistons
At the age of 63 I am getting back into racing having been out of racing for about 22 years. I am buying a 1986 RX7 that was raced under SCCA rules up to two years ago. I am getting the car and a 24ft enclosed trailer and a ton of spairs. So if anyone can give me pointers on these car I'm listening. I started racingin the early 60s with a SCCA F modified now B sportsracing as the crew member then the chief. Later I got into open wheel dirtcars spent a year or two learning the cars and was the crew cheif the car was a also ran but turned it into a top 10 to fifth car. Then I hooked up with a Supermodified team and in two years I was the crew chief. Took the team from 21st with the season 2/3ed through to 5th in the last 3ed of the season. I built two cars ( they are like winged sprinters) for the team over the next six seasons and we placed second (less than 10 points out). I was also the jackman for a Winston West team when they raced up here at Infineno in 1980 & 81. So I have had a lot of racing under my belt and I do know race cars I have driven a few times and never finished less than forth but I was much younger then. We did try to put a car to race Chump cars last Jan at Infineno and I drove the car for five laps and it over heated so that time I did come inlast.

I will be picking up the car on Laborday weekend and there will be pictures then. The plan is to spend the next few months going over the car and trailer making sure all is up to snuff and see if I can find some trackdays and check the car out on at speed. Then join NASA ado some class's hope that the wife we want to give it a try and then make a race or two.

I was looking for a roadrace car I came across this car with a trailer and a ton of spare parts and the guy was willing to trade me for my 1989 Vette that I was fixing up. I had retired from racing dirt cars (Sprintcars) back in 1988. I had been a crew chief for a SCCA roadrace team when I was in high school. We were a top team. I retired in 88 and thought it was all behind me then this guy at work asked me if I would be interested in building and driving a car for 24 hours of Lemons. I asked what the hell is 24 Hr of Lemons and the next thing I know we built a car and I am bite by the racing bug once more. So this RX7 came around and the guy was willing to trade and that was that.
