First time RX7 owner, FD, Oregon

Just introducing myself here. Got my first RX7 a few months back. Its a 93 with 120,000 miles on its 2nd engine. When I got it, it was in good shape but needed some work. It already had a few good mods like, Fluidyne radiator, HKS downpipe, and a couple gauges/ water temp and boost.

The bad, most of the suspension and bushings needed some attention. Needed wheels and tires. Stereo didn't work. Power was unimpressive. Battery was dead.

Got to work right away on the car. Enkei RPF1s 17x10 e38 with square 255/40r17s. I later upsized the rears to 275/40r17. I figured a square setup would handle better but it had too much oversteer for me.

Supension, replaced most of the bushings with either oem or super pro. Also added eibach springs with new oem shocks.

Replaced the rear diff seals, gear oil, and fuel filter.

Put a new stereo in. Just a simple head unit with new door and rear speakers. Removed all the wiring for the previous stereo, it was probably a pretty elaborate stereo with amps and subs.

Put in a new interstate battery, 51R in a turbo jeff battery tray. I later upgraded to a optima yellow top. The interstate died for an unknown reason after a couple months.

At this point my rx7 was nice to drive but lacked power and a bit of style.

Power-
Added a high flow cat and catback exhaust, stock cat was way clogged up and in multiple pieces.
Larger SMIC with a home made fiberglass duct
Cold air intake with K&N filters
Dual Halman Pro MBCs set at 10 psi stock ecu
Pettit ecu- boost turned up to 12 psi
HKS twin power- fixed some high rpm breakup

Looks-
New oem front lip
Rocket bunny rear spoiler
NRG steering wheel with Momo hub

Other small items like new fluids, ast delete, fixing small interior problems

Car is now a blast to drive. Fast, handles good, and gets a lot of looks. I did an autox with it, very fun and would be competitive with a set of real tires.

Ill get some pictures up here in a bit
Ryan

Future upgrades.

Larger front sway bar. Even with the stagger I think this car has a bit too much oversteer. I know this is probably not a popular point of view. I have won a couple of scca autox national tours (different car) so I'm not a complete chump at driving. I like to be able to power out of corners and currently I feel like I have to really feather the throttle. On the flip side, the rx7 can drift through cones and gates with precision, its just not fast.

Water Injection- Something simple and reliable, probably turn the boost up to 13 psi at this point. Possibly run a small amount of meth depending on what the wideband says.

Other than that just maintenance items till she blows up

Thanks for the kind words guys. I have a coolingmist water injection kit on the way, I'll probably relocate the battery and install a fire extinguisher at the same time. I might have a lead on a front sway bar but we will see if that works out.

Also took it to a truck scale and the car came in at 2700lb with a full tank of gas. The AC didn't work when I got the car so I removed it. Otherwise no major weight reduction has been done, still has spare, jack, tools, air pump, etc

You can really feel the lightness of these cars. Compared to a newer 300hp STI, the RX7 has better acceleration, braking and cornering. Ill try to get corner weights soon. I think after the battery relocation it will be slightly rear bias like, 49:51 or 48:52 front to rear weight.

bikerecker- I think I got it from ebay but any oem maza parts supplier would work. Unlike some other parts for this car the chin spoilers are pretty easy to get.
