FD owner; long time Rx7 fan
Hey everyone.
I've been a rotary fan for the better part of 25 years. My first introduction to rotaries was at 16 when 2 German guys moved to the neighborhood with 4 first gens. I went over on a regular basis to talk about cars. Eventually I purchased a first gen which I wrecked shortly after (not my fault). I replaced it with another 84 GSL which I drove for a long time and it gave me a lot of trouble. After several years I sold my first gen and bought an 86 GXL. The 86 was fantastic: fast, reliable, decent gas mileage and really nice looking... I beat on that car with no limits and it kept coming back for more. Eventually I had so many tickets I had to give it up. Many years after that I purchased an Rx8 (had three kids by this point so the unconventional styling and space was welcome). I never had a problem with the car though I only drove it for about 20k HARD miles. I regularly pushed to 10k RPM and slid around every corner I could. After a few years I traded the Rx8 in to consolidate my finances but I knew I'd own another Rx7. Many years later, I'm the proud owner of an FD.
When I started searching for an FD, I was looking for a 94 in good OEM shape. I stumbled on mine from a seller in Seattle. The catch was it had an LS in it. I thought, what the hell, why not. I flew up to see it and it's awesome. Ya, it doesn't have the rotary which is a negative, but it actually drove really really nice and had gobs of power. Since then I've only put about 3k miles (18 months) on it as it's been in the garage most of the time with one repair or another.
Thanks for letting me join!

welcome aboard. don't worry too much about the V-8 swap, it's all good. i myself wouldn't mind having an LS FD. we do have a V-8 rx7 section:
